Default Help Please - Can't figure this out

Hi all, and thanks for the help beforehand.

I've been overclocking my build now for about 4 months. I'm running:

evga680i
q6700 @ 3.25 ghz
ocz reaper 4gb kit (2x2gb) rated for 1066 @ 2.1v-2.3v.

http://www.ocztechnology.com/product...er_hpc_edition

I'm having a real problem with my ram. Actually i suppose that I'm gun shy of the problems this mobo has with vdimm's over 2.3v. Since when I orginally bought the ram, OCZ specs were 2.1v-2.2.v i felt comfortable buying it. Now all of a sudden the specs for my ram on the site are 2.1v-2.3v?? ***?? My sticks both say 2.1v-2.2v on the labels though...

THEY WONT RUN 1066mhz AT 2.1 -2.2!!!!

When I underclock to 800mhz, and use auto timings and voltages, I can prime95 blend for over 24 hours stable. When I up the voltages to 2.2v and the frequency to 1066, my pc becomes unstable in prime after about 3 hours. Games hard reset the comptuer frequently (GTA 4, COD5, and now Dragon Age) no blue screens as of yet. However, i ran memtest86 yesterday at the higher voltages and speeds and it ran for 13 hours no errors (like 16 passes or something).

I know my modest cpu overclock is stable, but i want to push that more in the future as my temps are great. The ram issue is getting kinda frustrating though.

Factory timings are supposed to be 5-5-5-15 2t at 1066. No luck losening them to 6-6-6-18 either, still unstable (which is BS cause I shouldn't have to losen my timings on high performance ram to run at factory speeds). I have a sneaking suspicion that left on [auto] this evga POS doesn't have any idea what to set the advanced timings to. Could that be it?

I would not be opposed to running linked/synced with a 650 mhz/tight timings/1t config. This would probably be good as I up my CPU overclock. Any advice on how to do this? Timing suggestions, etc. I tried it and it crashed the computer in prime.

Do you think i just have to say f*** it and got for 2.3v? Could the labels be undervolting the ram? If 2.3 does fry them, and the site says 2.3 but the labels say 2.2, do i lose my RMA option?

Sorry this was so long, but its a frustrating situtation. Thanks for any and all help!

From what you described, I would say that voltage droop / spikes would be one of the likely causes. Have you run a multimeter on your incoming voltage? If not, try logging the voltage at the moment of the blue screens. If the voltage does look to be the cause, try a voltage regulator or a biger PSu

I do not know if this is critical but your memory is not evga 680i QVL.
If this is important I am pretty sure OCZ will go for a swap with you.
