Default Lan Question

Quick question : Is it better to use both lan ports or just one?

I am assuming you are talking about the onboard LAN ports on your mobo? It dosent really matter how many you have connected up, as the overhead for the LAN ports is small. If you are connecting one computer through this computer to the internet make sure you have a bridge on the ports.

Technically speaking, you can use both and bridge them through Windows, so that programs see them as a single port. However, for 99% of applications and uses in a home environment, this won't help you at all. The only real advantages for most people in having 2 onboard NIC's is the option to use your system as a router, access two separate networks, or have redundancy in case one fails. Aside from that, just stick with using one, and you'll be fine.
