So for me, a P5B-Deluxe is the way to go?

-E6600 (Possibly upgrading to an E6550 in the future)
-Cell Shock/Team Xtreem DDR2-1000 (D9 chips)

I doubt I will be going Crossfire or SLI, so will this motherboard take me over 500 fsb if need be?

Yes, that is the board for you. I would highly recommend getting the non-wifi board, since the wifi board seems to have problems above 500 FSB. If you don't mind a few less features and a cheaper price tag, the Biostar 965P will do 500+ FSB on air.

Nice thread. your information on the Asus P5N32-E is inaccurate and outdated though. The board easily surpassed the EVGA in overclocking, had no PS2 keyboard issues, sata hdd issues, sata raid issues, memory compatibility issues, capacitor anchors on the back of the cpu area blocking certain types of after market cpu cooling (EVGA does) . Also since the boards' launch first week of December there have been 3 bios updates (Currently 0602). None of them fixed mission critical items similar to the evga as there simply are much less issues with the board. When the EVGA board has a bios update that fixes all of the above listed issues and can break 500 FSB like the Asus does, then it will be a good recommendation.

Regarding sound issues with X-FI cards and SLI'd 8800GTX, I can't comment as I haven't been able to test it yet. I have tested both the EVGA and Asus board with SLI'd 7900GTX without any sound issues with my Audigy 2 ZX sound card.

This may or may not be an outstanding issue with one or both boards. I can only comment on what I have myself tested.

Burn, I highly recommend the Intel D975XBX2 over the P5B. Read here why.

...It has the ICH7R southbridge though :\ Tom's benchmarks proved it worse than the ICH8R southbridge in all categories :[ Do you still think it's a good buy over the P5B (ICH8R)? Consider that I have 4 hard drives for RAID 10.

If you want 500+ FSB, the Intel Bad Axe isn't for you (BIOS limit is actually 500 FSB, not to mention, non-modded 975x boards won't reach 500FSB). Get the P5B Deluxe. The SB + your RAID setup shouldn't be a problem with the ICH8-R Southbridge.

@Robilar PM me with your thoughts on the Asus P5N32-E

To tell you the truth, I would get a PCI RAID controller. I really do think it is worthwhile.

Most chips won't reach 500Mhz FSB unless they are on some heavy Vcore and cooling. I don't think Burn expect to get to 500Mhz FSB with a E6600 / E6650.

I would get a PCI-E RAID controller, but they are too expensive for my tastes. The Areca and Promise lines are nice, but too much money IMO. Believe me, if I could have one, I would...

ICH8R performed the best out of all of the southbridges Tom's tested...ICH8R, ICH7R, 680i, etc.

Quoting the Tom's guide:

Quote:
All three chipsets come with a very comparable feature set and virtually do not demonstrate differences in performance-that is, unless you spend some time doing in-depth benchmarking tests. RAID level support is similar and all three products support visual notification on array status, which informs you if one of your arrays fails. All three chipsets lack professional options such as email notification, mostly because this typically requires installing an email server locally.

Okay, I surrender

If I wanted to install, say, a SATA DVD burner though, I'd run out of SATA ports, right? Really don't want to spend the cash on a SATA card if I don't have to. Ineed, I am considering buying a SATA burner, and selling this HP one

Do you still think going with the BadAxe 2 is a good choice?

Thanks for all the help
