I had my system at 400Mhz FSB (9 multi) 1.45V, DDR2-1200 @ 5-5-5-10 2.30V, NB @ 1.65V
I ran memtest. I kept on getting 6 errors every time I ran it. Everytime I increased memory voltage and CPU voltage as well as loosened memory timings to try and fit it. I kept on getting 6 errors. I went to 401Mhz FSB with all original settings, now I am cruising through 2 cycles of memtest, no errors. I can't imagine how many times people may think their memory or CPU can't handle speed. When in fact it is their Northbridge! I had thought that my memory just couldn't take DDR2-1200 5-5-5-10! Boy I was wrong. This can run it fine at 2.2V! I am going to lower my CPU FSB too!

Hope my problem has something to do with this topic
__________________![]() At stock CPU speed, so 266MHz FSB, I can clock my RAM to 800MHz with 4-4-4-12 timings and 2.0V. At 400MHz FSB with 800 MHz RAM the timings can't go below are 5-6-6-18 even at 2.4V. What do you guys think?

I just got my E6600/AW9D-Max and am running into similar issues--with even more limited BIOS options and fewer strap options.
Can I ask? I have an alpha BIOS that offers 1333 strap to the AW9D-Max and another Beta that offers additional RAM dividers at 1066. Do you think that running at 1333 strap might be the ticket. I realise there is a performance hit. I dunno...not sure if it's worht the risk.

![]() @ CyberDruid Try out the 1333Mhz strap and then run some SuperPi tests and such. Although the 1333Mhz strap affects memory bandwidth, the increased CPU speed may nullify it, test it out!

I just checked the Abit Forum thread and found that the BIOS is not supporting Dual Channel on the 1333 strap. However since I have only DDR2667 RAM right now I am going to try the beta that offers some more RAM options.
I guess it is possible that my board will get a BIOS eventually that will let me move past 3060...Will post my result.

@pauldovi - I tried something over 400MHz, but don't rememmber exactly if it was 405 or 410. And also do you think the timings should have worked at 360MHz?
__________________Now I'm running 333FSB and 833RAM with those 4-4-4-12 timings. Anything above 333MHz and can't get them anymore.

When i use a lower than stock multiplyer my PCI-e goes into x1!
http://www.overclock.net/intel-gener...c-problem.html 355*9 works fine. 355*8, 395*8, 405*8 and 450*7 are all STABLE, but all force my PCI-e into x1. Its bloody annoying, coz i wanna run my RAM 1:1 at atleast 400Mhz if not faster, as this RAM has great potential. Can anyone shed some light on why this is happening, and if anyone else has had this problem, at what settings and how you over came this. Also, great thread for any 965 / 975 owner, Rep +.

So how high does the FSB have to go so that the latencies become null as speed increses? Between 401 and what do you get that strap that increases latency that we don't want, and what's after that and will CPU/FSB speed account for the strap restriction?
Also, are the FSB straps on the 965 and 975 chipsets the same? --Wow my OC world has just expanded, and i'm gonna have a lot more to play with when i get new stuff hehe
