So, an apt analogy to the NB is it's a manual transmission and the strap is the stick shift?

I think the value of the QuadGT and Bax Axe 2 is unrivaled because of its strap control features.

![]() I guess i should have explained myself further. I was talking about 1066 and 1333 straps. When we're talking about the current crop of core 2 duos 4300 and 4400 withstanding it would be pointless to run anything less than the 1066 strap. So with that said the abit board only offers the 1066 strap which is actually better for memory performance but limits most boards to 450ish fsbs. Which is the plus for this board since it can get over 500 while still on the 1066 strap. My mistake and i didnt mean to mislead anyone.

I have to agree, I am confused as to why they do not support a 1333Mhz strap. However, it should be noted that the motherboard can reach considerable FSB on the 1066Mhz FSB. For me, it is not a worry!

People were saying 500+ on that 1066 strap. However I'm sure that's a suicide garbage shot OC not something more real and usable.

I will more than likely use the 1066 strap, and see how far I can go. I really hope that it'll go above 500FSB (550 would be great!)

I'm with you but I go for 8 hours blend. With the CPUz's you mentioned plus a whirl of 3dmark01.
However, hearing that they primed at 550 on the 1066 strap is EXCELLENT news. I'll likely buy that board in the future.

New to Overclock.net

This strap issue is confusing to me, but it's to be expected as I'm totally new to over clocking. After reading all of the posts above, I have a question for you all on this topic. I'm trying to over clock my E6600 to 3.2 and in doing so I lowered the multiplier to 8 to get a fsb number that allowed me to reach the 800 MHz cap for my memory. I therefore currently have 400 x 8 = 3.2 Gigz with memory at 800 MHz. Am I better off going back to the default multiplier of 9, fsb of 356 and memory at 712 MHz?

I am not sure what cooling you are using, but I suspect you can probably go up to around 400 x 9 or close to it. Your memory should also be able to do more than 800Mhz fairly easily.
