That is exactly what it would set the memory speed to in your example. It is only to be used at much lower FSB speeds of course.

I wonder why Gigabyte don't have a .5 multiplier or a .75 multiplier. That would help to set a divider and could potentially achieve much higher clock speeds.

It's not just Gigabyte DS3 and S3 boards that don't have lower DRAM multipliers than 2X, all Asus P965 (P5B/-E/-DLX) boards don't either, and neither does the Biostar 965PT.

I'm almost certain that all motherboards based on the P965 chipset, don't have the feature of running FSB:RAM lower than 1:1.

I dont think any of them do. My nforce4 chipset wont allow the ram to run slower than the FSB and for the record, I would never want it to.
