Asus has taken back the crown withthis one--for regular reasonably priced mobo to perform this well is really special--no lights--no funky logos--just performance.
I am gettin ready to push on--I have been cranking away 3.1ghz without a sweat--I am sure there is more to get out of this mobo.

MADMAX22, how did you get 4158 from an e4300? I am ordering parts tomorrow for a friend's computer and we are shooting for cheap performance, not necessarily max overclock. At Anandtech, their review of the e4300 got around 3.6GHz I believe. Others say that 3.2GHz is outstanding for that chip. I want to overclock it safely, he doesn't want to take risks with his CPU. We are likely going to use the stock heatsink and fan, but if overclock voids the warranty anyway, we might as well get an inexpensive heatsink/fan if it will enable us to safely get 3.6GHz out of the thing. I personally think 3.6 would be awesome since 1.8 is stock. If this is putting too much strain on the chip, 3.2 or even 3.0 would be fine. But I haven't known anyone to claim 4.158 GHz. How did you do it? Maybe it will help us safely reach 3.2 or even 3.6.

That is known as hijacking a thread--a n00b tactic...please refrain from hijacking my threads..thanks.
I plugged in my PC2 8000 (4 4 4 5) and (having set volts before install) it booted up fine--but I tried to fast to reasch 500 and had to reset CMOS and reboot using the PC2 6400 ( 5 5 5 15) running at 1066 with a FSB of 444 . This is a magic combo at this point--runs Orthos perfectly... I would say that this would be a goosd dailyy setting seeing as the temps are very low and the performance is besting my E6600 on an AW9D-Max at somewhat higher clocks. I finallyy popped in a wireless adapter so I can post up some screenshots of the clocks and so forth. More soon. If someone wants to discuss the P5K no probs-- but for random OC questions please start a thread.

This board is clocking right along--but so far I can only get it to run as fast as 490...
It handles the RAM very well--and is overall an incredibly easy board to clock on... I have run at Max Volts--but cannot get it to boot in to XP at 500 FSB...but it is still a great board IMO.

Sounds really good regardless, thats with stock NB cooling correct.
Also have you tried what is the max fsb of this chip on other mothorboards, is it the same or higher. It could be the cpu that is limiting your max fsb.

Hmmm.. that's a good point--I will ask Mikey about that.
Yes Chipset is cooled by a 120mm fan overhead--that's it.

Looks very promising, especially for such an early bios. Can't wait to start testing myself but waiting on a CPU.

Great thread. I was looking for a C2D board for my new build, having been un-sure of my P5B-E choice. Thanks to your thread, I just threw the P5K onto my build list.
__________________I like your comment on how it might be the new "P4P800SE"... exactly the board I'm using now, and am very satisfied with. I was hoping to get a C2D board that would carry those results. Thanks and hope to see more results/findings.
