Can anyone tell me if there's a reliable pencil vdroop mod for the IP35-E?

Good morning everyone. Currently I'm looking at the GA-P35-DS3R for my new build, but in the last couple days I've found the ABIT IP35 Pro to be a decent choice as well. I'm not into OCing, but I do want a board with plenty of features (SATA/USB/RAID - for example). I'm wondering if the IP35 would be a preferred board over the P35-DS3R?

I just built my new PC yesterday and I have everything at stock settings and it started right up without a problem. I am running Vista HP 64 and the Vista user experience rating is 5.9 across the board. I am going to overclock the cpu to 3.0 and try to keep it at stock volts but it flys at stock speeds as well. The board is great quality and very easy to work with I would like to have more PCI 1x slots but its not a big deal.

Good luck hope you have as good of time buying your new computer as I did.

Hey Everyone!

I just assembled my DESKTOP Today, I am so happy! My rig is in my signature. But I am having a problem. Well, I changed the DDR2 Voltage to 2.2 because my motherboard had it stock at 1.8 Voltage. But heres the thing:

I downloaded CPUZ and well in the GUI it is only displaying 1596MHZ For my Q6600 with a multiplier of 6 and FSB of 266. However, I was playing around with some windows rapidly and noticed that it jumped up to 2400GHZ, it seems like it is only working as hard when it wants to. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am a noob when it comes to the BIOS.

Secondly, under the Memory Tab it is showing 400MHZ, which is right for my memory (DDR2-800) , but the timings are 5-5-5-18, Command Rate 2T. How do i change this to get the optimized 4-4-4-12 speeds?

Thanks,
Brian

Change the memory voltage down to 2.1volts, because the IP35 Pro definitely overvolts on RAM, and it can fry it if you keep the volts too high. I tried to keep it about .1volts below what the manufacturer says stock is.

Did you make shure that all power saving features are turned off in the bios? If not the BIOS does not let you handle the multiplier yourself but does it's own thing.

In your BIOS if it does offer the option to change the timings. Concerning the method, you tweak, test, try diff. settings etc. all the things you do when you overclock. Read some howtos if you're not sure what you do/have to do first.
And don't be sure that you can reach 4-4-4-12 speeds, depends on your board/ram etc.

To fix this you need to disable the C1E and EIST functions in the bios, to get there enter your bios like normal, goto advanced bios features, goto cpu feature and they will both be on this screen. This basically tells windows to run your processor at the speed you tell it to and that you dont want windows to descide how and when to crank up to full power.

To fix this go back to the main bios screen and get into the advanced chipset features, here is where you set your memory timings, going right down the list of them is the order that you put in the 4-4-4-12, dont worry about the command rate as I have yet to see anyone prove that changing that makes ANY difference in speed at all on an Intel machine.
And yes you should be able to hit 4-4-4-12 very easy with your Crucial's and this board I have seen people overclock the hell out of them and still get their rated speeds.

ok so I after having it in my sig for almost a month I descided it was finally time to put both my raptors to use and raid 0 them, this imho would have been really cool if not for both my cd/dvd drives both also being sata drives! does anyone know how to use the raid function of this board if you are also using sata cd/dvd drives? I did get it to start to install but never made it past loading the drivers, it would always lock up with a bsod I suppose I could always go back to old fashioned pata cd drives but that would just be a waist of good hardware.
without having to go out and get an after market sata raid card does anyone know how to get this to work? if it helps I will be adding a second 500gig to the system soon and will also run that raid, but since the matrix can do 2 raids at once and I can setup the second one later I dont think this will be a problem.
