I am running on the specs in my sig (minus the water cooling) I just thought I'd give it a test run before I put it in water.
__________________My issue is with my Seagate 7200.10 HDD. It is setup with 3 partitions: Vista/XP/Storage (C:/D:/E: Respectively). I can't boot to either of the 2 partitions . I have tried using the automatic "repair function" with the DVD and CDs of both vista and XP. Nothing has worked. Now when I plug in my old IDE hard drive, it ALSO recognized it in the bios, and BOOTS! I installed a clean copy of XP on it and its fine and even detects my SATA HDD in My Computer. When I try my SATA HDD in my Old AMD Skt 939 mobo/cpu it works and dual boots just fine. When I tried deleting the 2 partitions of the boot.ini leaving only vista (c It still doesn't work on my new setup (775). I've never been more stuck in my life. Thanks for reading all the way through, I know it's tough reading a bunch of words on line. Summary: Can't boot on SATA HDD on my new P5K, but can boot with IDE and SATA shows up. I am running the latest bios 0501 (beta). Everything seems to work fine except the hard drive I need! Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I've searched everywhere, read all 7 pages on the p5k dlx forum on asus and have found nothing. I suspect it has something to do with the dual boot, but the MBR is contained within the HDD not the mobo, so i'm clueless.

In what order did you install the operating systems? If you did XP first it gets real glitchy. If thats the case install Vista first then XP.

Did vista first many months ago. I'm just trying to move my hdd over. I used EasyBCD to setup my boot.ini, never had a problem till this afternoon.

__________________![]() I'm able to triple boot, let me explain: Boot from IDE, installed vista clean, installed EasyBCD, added my Vista partition from my SATA drive, and was able to boot to Vista off of the SATA by going through the IDE HDD first (in bios). When I go directly to the sata, I get Error loading operating system.

hey, I had a SATA issue too, and what I did was change the SATA port I was using. First I used the 2 black ports for my raid, which work fine, and the bottom right SATA port for my data drive. I plugged in the power and SATA cable, but my bios didnt recognize it, and neither did windows. I switched the port that it used and then windows and bios recognize it just fine. I used the bottom left SATA port. If one of your SATAs isnt getting recognized, switch the port it uses. the P5k Deluxe is notorious for SATA problems.
If it is recognized, I still recommend trying it in another port. It might just work.

kinda nervous with all that water flowing....anways I think I've tried all the sata ports, except 1, which was blocked by the fan cable from the 2900, but now that that's gone.... I'll give it a go! Will try the black ones too, although I though I tried it. Thanks for the advice about the notorious SATA p5k problems... didn't know that.... If I have a bad mobo, it's going to be a PITA to take it out

So wait, you had the HDD installed on a different mobo, and then simply moved the HDD to the P5K and expected it to work? You'd need to remove the chipset drivers from your current install, and put the P5K's chipset drivers on there.

But I can still boot off of the IDE hard drive to get into the SATA to get into the OS that way just fine. I've gotten into my old vista partition and installed the chipset drivers. And I believe it still doesn't work going into it directly, have to test it out for sure once I stop leak testing.
