NP, I'm always willing to help...

What about FSB voltage? Did you set it to 1.5v?

I know a lot of 680i A1 owners can usually reach 475 FSB, but struggle at 500, so you might just be at your chipset's limit.

Bah... I was afraid that might be it too. I saw your post earlier in the thread about the step up program. I'm seriously considering doing that. I mean, ***, $90 and I got a 780ii board. Right?
I checked and there is like 22 days left to act, so I got to start kissing up to the woman..

The V-core was up to 1.5v to, so that's not it.. Just for giggle though, I turned down my multi, just to see if the chip would boot at 2045mhz, and it still didn't go. So that's why I'm leaning to the chips limit. Does that sound right? Or would the chipset still be limiting there?

Yeah, that sounds right. But I wouldnt expect the 780i to be able to run too much higher of a FSB. It is the 680i chipset with an additional PCI-E 2.0 chip added to the board. See picture of the 780i northbridge:

Hmm.. I think I've read that somewhere before. Not sure where..
I'm guessing that's why you jumped to the X38 in your sig rig?

Just remove power for the board and wait for the power led to go out. Then take a pencil and trace over the top of the resistor (from red endpoint to red endpoint) labeled Vdroop as shown in the picture below. The lead of the pencil lowers the resistance of that resistor which reduces the vdroop.

picture enlarged from xtremesystems member symphy's post.

I only needed 2-3 pencil strokes.

Someone was asking about the differences between the 680i LT SLI and the 680i SLI in another thread, so Ericoed thought I should post what I found on this thread for anyone that may need it.

The EVGA 680i LT SLI (122-CK-NF67-T1) is basically a cost reduced version of the standard 680i SLI (122-CK-NF68-A1 or T1). There are some differences in the MCP (southbridge) and other features, including the BIOS and memory capabilities.

This comparison provided by AnandTech of the 680i LT and 680i SLI illustrates some of the changes:
Quote:
We basically believe the 680i LT SLI SPP is a renamed 680i SLI SPP that has been feature reduced or more than likely neutered by the BIOS ... The real differences in the chipsets are in their choice of MCPs with the 680i LT utilizing the nForce 570 SLI MCP and the 680i SLI sporting the nForce 590 SLI MCP ... The 680i SLI offers full support for Enhanced Performance Profile (SLI-Ready) memory at speeds up to 1200MHz with the LT version only offering official 800MHz support. However, this only means you will have to tweak the memory speed and timings yourself in the BIOS ... We had no issue running our LT equipped board memory speeds up to 1275MHz
Other differences in the LT are less USB ports (8 opposed to 10) and only 1 Ethernet port (opposed to 2).

Ericeod has mentioned the 680i SLI AR and TR boards (opposed to A1 and T1) lack the proper GTL reference voltage modification, making them poor for Quad core overclocking. The LT boards also lacks this modification. Anandtech noticed this as well:
Quote:
Needless to say, quad core overclocking on the 680i platforms has been a huge disappointment until recently. There is a new hardware revision of the EVGA 680i board
Overall, it's not a bad board, IMO. It has definitely been shown to OC 65nm dual cores with great success. But it's definitely not the one you'd want for OC'ing a Quad Core CPU. I'd go with either a 680i SLI A1 or T1 (model 122-CK-NF68-A1 or T1).

The 780i (EVGA model 132-CK-NF78-A1) makes an even better choice for Quads, IMO - because it has specific GTL Reference Voltage adjustments options in the BIOS for each lane - making a higher, more stable Quad core overclock possible. This post on xtreview.com illustrates how GTL reference voltage adjustments can impact overclocking, especially on Quads.
