Post EVGA 650i/680i Bios Flash Instructions - NO FLOPPY

Since many people have inquired about how to flash an EVGA 680i Bios without a floppy, here you go (this also applies to 650i chipsets):

Download the cd.iso file from the EVGA website.
Extract the bios file (ie, P30.bin) from this iso file.
Burn this .bin file to a CD (just the .bin file).
Leave the CD in the drive.
Restart the computer and when it posts go into the BIOS
and load defaults. Save and exit.
During POST, press "ALT-F2" (repeatedly or if timed correctly, once).

At this point the AWARD Bios Flash utility will be flashing your BIOS.
DO NOT DO ANYTHING - DO NOT TURN OFF THE PC

The BIOS should now be flashed.

Remember to "Load Defaults" in the BIOS upon first reboot after flashing.

You may also want to clear the CMOS, but this is not required.

And now your BIOS has been flashed.

NO FLOPPY needed.

I hope this helps.

I am pretty sure that this will work across all the 650i and 680i boards, but I have not confirmed this. I assume that they all use the same flash utility since they are all NVidia chipsets.

Happy and painfree flashing!!!

If you want to save $.20, this method can be done off a bootable USB thumb drive as well.

only if you have vista

The other none floppy method, you don't even need a CD burner...

Windows Installation - Alternate installation method
Note- If you have an older version of the NVIDIA Update Utility, please remove it before installing this new version
Before updating your BIOS, please load BIOS defaults by hitting the delete key during POST and select: “Load Defaults.” Now select “Save & Exit Setup.” After that has been completed please follow these instructions:
Download the following files: NVIDIA Update Center and NF68_P30.bin
Install the latest NVIDIA Update Center and run the program. (Use ONLY the above version, DO NOT use any previous version of NVIDIA Update Center.)

Once Update Center opens, Check the box “Clear CMOS” and then hit apply at the bottom right hand corner
Now select browse and locate NF68_P30.bin

Select load bios

After update center finishes, completely shutdown your system
Once the system is off, unplug your PSU and press the power button on the front of your case. (This will discharge the Motherboard.)

Wait 30-60 seconds to turn on or plug in your PSU and start up your system.
Press "Delete" to once again enter the BIOS, and load defaults. Save and exit; your system BIOS is now updated.

No, you still can use the thumb drive method without Vista. You just need to create a bootable thumb drive.

my board came with a utility that automatically flashes the BIOS for you in Windows, just download the file, use the program to find it, hit "update BIOS", and bam, you're done. of course you need to restart and set all you BIOS settings again, but that's it
