I'm calling shanigans on "Clunk's" results.
As mentioned, 1.48v for 9 x 450 seems highly unlikely, especially on a quad. And he can't even get it stable at 9 x 400 with 1.55v?!?!? That being said though, Abit boards require quite a bit of tweaking to get them dialed in. So I can't be overly critical, perhaps he just isn't the most knowledgable overclocker....

http://clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=A4841008 XS "Official IX38 Review/Overclock/Guide thread http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=165004 It seems that after the IP35 series abit decided to take a step back and renew their old ways of releasing boards with immature bios's. Not only that but the boards Supershanks and Clunk received seemingly OC'd horribly with Quads and were missing the fan mount clips(for the PWM). But looking through some of the results w/quads others have had (in the XS review thread) I don't know what to think. ATM I feel the X38 chipset is one of the biggest let downs of Intel chipsets to date... Wholly unworthy of the obscene price they command, perhaps it was all the hype surrounding their launch... I'm not even considering touching this mobo with a ten foot pole until there's a decent BIOS and multiple user reviews showing decent OCability. PCI-E 2.0 and 45nm CPU support will have to wait.

I got this mobo 2 days ago.
Have it up and running with aircooling first just to se if it booted, seems like lotsa ppl dont like this new Abit, so as an old Abitfan myself i had to check it out myself. So, i bought this mainly to se if it was a crappy mobo, or a greate overclocker like im used to from Abits latest (AB9 Pro-533fsb and AB9 QuadGT-556fsb) Will test hard this following days with some different memory - 1 set of Crucial 10th Anniversary PC5300CL3-D9GMH. 4x1GB Crucial Ballistix PC8500CL5-D9GMH. and 1 set of Corsair XMS2 PC6400C3-D9GKX First boot with a new E6850@L726B not tested for fsbwalls yet, and 2gig of Crucial Ballistix PC8500 and a Seasonic 600w psu. No problems booting into bios who looks quite same as AB9 QuadGT bios at first look. Only a few differs mainly in memorysection, who has a few moore subtimings available on this mobo. Got no problems so i just installed windows with new drives and rebooted again, just cranked up fsb to 400 (3,6ghz) and not touching anything else in bios, boot fine ![]() looks good, feels good. tried fsb, manage 500fsb with 1.45vmch tried maxclock manage 4,1ghz just with ease. I know this new Abit and me are goona be good friends, its not perfect, got a few flaws like many new mobos, hope for new bios soon to fix a few small errors. Excample: when i set eg. 5-5-5-15 in bios, tras shows 21 in cpuz, not 15 who is set in bios!!!..a bug? same goes if i set eg. tras-12 in bios, cpuz shows 18!!! Look at my cpuzscreen. other than that its shows some potential, im looking forward to test this mobo further, ill also got a SS to hook up on cpu later, and a miniSS to put on the NB if needed, and if it behave really good, maybe some dice or LN2 later. http://bildr.no/view/122768 heres a nother pic of 500fsb out of the box. Spitimes suck , this was just a speedtest. moore to come --cheers--

Thanks Norz! Good to see this board isn't all bad. Clunk and Supershanks had me real scared...
You going to test a Quad on it? No worries if you can't, keep us posted. Dice or LN2 sounds awesome, who knows maybe you can break 9 sec spi1m time? Are there any other small drawbacks besides funky memory timings? Thanks again.

But its gets better, I had Abitmobos since My first beloved Abit NF7 S v2.0. I know it takes a few bios-updates to fix a few things, its normal, nothing to worry about i think. But as quadcore cpu goes, i dont have any now, maybe i can borrow 1 from my friend, he got 1 Q6600 G0 who can do 3.96mhz stable on air!!! anyway, im planning on buying a 45nm quad in january, Q6600 is old already..lol ill try keep u guys posted, maybe some 3D later, hopefully ill try do some serious memorybenching on this baby, but i think the performance is somewhat close to the P35 chipset, anyway i really like this mobo, but look whos talking, i learned to love the AB9 Pro also (maybe I was the only one..lol..) --cheers--
