OK, so i just spent the last 2 days re-working my entire computer, inside and out. Had to bust out the Dremal to cut chunks out of my case to allow the install of my rads for my water cooling loop...
Got everything installed, and my computer back together. I try to install windows XP PRO, and the RAID drivers don't want to work... On another computer, i use the "MakeDisk" app that is on the motherboard cd that makes the floppy disk with the drivers. And i also made a floppy by hand with the files... here is a list of drivers, in order, that windows detects when i press the F6 option to load 3rd party RAID drivers:
All 3 methods of obtaining the drivers to put on the floppy have given me the same results. The Driver list above. I have tried a lot of different combinations from the list of drivers, and nothing seems to want to work. Windows just complains about not finding a hard disk. I did build the raid in the raid options from the bios. I Have checked more than twice to verify that i have built the raid correctly. I have made raids before from many different boards, so i'm sure i know how to do the bios config part.... After narrowing down the problem, i have concluded that its the raid drivers. I cant seem to find the right combination to select so it works... Any help on what files to select on for this to work would be very helpful... I also looked in the manual and didn't find anything about raid driver install notes or anything like that.... HELP!!! I know CD had/has this board, i really hope he finds this thread to show me how the raid works on this damn thing!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're not going to like this, but I did what you did. It worked the first time. And it was my first RAID set up.
__________________First I copied the drivers from the motherboard CD, booted from Windows disk, put in the floppy when prompted and it installed Windows right away. Actually the only thing I did different from you is I created a partition to put windows on. I can't imagine that makes any difference at all, and you might have done so also I'm just noting the difference. After I installed Windows I started Dual booting with Vista ultimate 64 bit. That's a whole different issue for me though. I can tell you it does work though. Good luck.

I have been messing with the drivers for hours with no success.
I'm beginning to think that the raid controller or the drivers are seriously flawed. I'm going to call ASUS tech after school today, if not tomorrow and see what they say... This is ridiculous... Thanks for the reply CD.

huh? Does Maximus Formula even have a JMicron raid controller? I just went to Asus site and it says MF come with Intel ICH9R raid controller and JMicron JMB368 PATA controller (for your IDE CD ROM and stuff).
__________________I think what you need is to find ICH9R driver and copy it to a floppy disk

Sounds like the same problem I am having, but mine is a GIGABYTE board. I've tried several different variations on the BIOS, but for some reason when I'm at the XP install and when it asks me for the drivers I load the floppy and nothing happens. I know the floppy drive is working, but is there maybe another floppy setting in the BIOS that needs to be setup???
