I'm planning on buying a 780i. How is the stability and heat buildup when overclocking?

The northbridge is SPP, not MCP. If you look at the chipset diagram in the boards manual it clearly shows "SPP" sitting square between cpu/mem/n200. (or you can simply google images "780i chipset diagram").

About the hw monitor temp., I'll say this. Before I wb'd that board it would read up into the 60's/70's w/ a mild oc. After wc'ing the board (BP nb/sb single block) that temp never broke 40c again. Not even with maximum voltage setting on both nb & sb.

How about with an HR-05 and a 70CFM fan? Would that be sufficient?

ok, so SPP is northbridge, and everest reads that at 50c idle. the reading labeled 'system' in HWmonitor doesnt seem to correspond to any readings in everest. i think its bogus. if the northbridge was really 90c+, i wouldnt be able to hold my fingers on the heatsink. everest seems to be most accurate of all these programs... i dont know what to think. i have a HR-05 SLI/IFX and an 80mm fan, do you think that would help with cooling much?

It will not fit. There are two chips that need to be covered. The SPP and the NF200.

Well I was going for the HR-05 IFX for the NB and the HR-05 IFX/SLI for the SB, both with SilverStone FM82 fans pushing 70CFM each...

But obviously I'd need to know if it cools enough and if it fits at all, when installing a TRUE
