I'm pleased with my first day OCing my first quad. Not bad voltage for 3.6Ghz. Temps are getting a little warm.

Yeah that is pretty good...I was about 1.42v on my DFI...but there was no vdroop...so I would say you are right-on
![]() *temps shouldnt become an issue until you are pushing through 3.8ghz...then the CPU really likes to be below 55c on loads.

No vdroop here. Shaded the resistor a long time ago. This new FTW BIOS even has vdroop control, but I just leave it on since the resistor is already shaded just right. I've also learned here recently that nVidia board normally take a little more voltage then Intel boards when using the same chip. Take the e8400es I'm about to mail you. On my p35 board it will do 4.0Ghz with 1.38v, but the nVidia board needed 1.4v. I'm going to aim for ~3.7Ghz for a 24/7 OC. IBT is hitting 70C at 3.6, but Orthos and other stress tests are in the low 60's. Going to try and run an 8 multi and shoot for 1850QDR. Then I'm going to work on something close to 4.0Ghz that's just stable enough for benching.

Alright, i've really been looking into overclocking my 780i lately and i just wondered if anybody had any tips or any recommendations for me as i still am clueless on how i would adjust volts. Any help or guidance would be awesome. I was told i could get up to 3.6.

Getting to 3.6Ghz will most likely require GTL adjustments with this board. The board will easily do 1800 FSB, but getting your CPU up to that will require time tweaking the GTL, since the 7 series boards have no way for effectively auto setting the GTL lanes.
I would suggest posting in the 750i thread, as it has much more feedback and is basically the same board w/o the third PCIe slot. http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...ck-thread.html You should also read this thread at EVGA: http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=...&mpage=1&key=&

This has been stable so far in all of my games and running prime95 small packets for about 3 hours.... I haven't had time to do a good 10 hours prime test yet, I may OC a little higher first. I also have a pic with all temps, but I will have to post that when I get home.

Bump for a great guide. I've been getting lots of feedback over the past couple weeks. So if you're having issues with stability at high FSBs then read the 3rd post about GTL tweaking. I've been getting some PMs from very satisfied overclockers that now have a higher stable OC due to the GTL guide.
