Default High Pitch Squeal Problem

I have no clue what is going wrong with my computer but I know it isn't my PSU anymore, I got it all working, I can turn my computer on but when I do I hear this annoying high pitch squeal. I don't have the PSU connected to any fans or even my HDD or DVD Drive. Anyone know what this is??

how do you know its not the PSU? do you have a spare psu to test? My guess is that its the psu, video card, or mobo.....i would double check and make sure the pci-e connector is all the way plugged in to your card because i know that can cause squealing. I have heard of 680i mobos having a squeal sound when the cpu was under load but not when you first turn it on....ill have to look around and try to find where i read that at. Do you know what area the noise is coming from?

I get that with my severely overvolted GPU...it could be the extra voltage in your CPU that does it, since that looks like the only part that you increased voltage in...

My new 8800GT squeals very slightly too when running Lightsmark 2007, seems to do it more so at very high frame rates. I know its the card as my system never made any noise before the new card was fitted. I've been reading a few electronics pages regarding this issue and it seems that certain power conditioning components do squeal/vibrate when loaded, sometimes the vibrating part can be singled out by touching the various componants lightly with a rubber pencil eraser then glued to the board directly to stop the componants vibration.

Have a read through here.....

I get the same squeal problem as well. My motherboard (ABit AA8 DuraMax) came with a program that lets you overclock on the fly and it's only when I overclock the Ext. Clock to 220MHz (presets) that I hear this squealing. At the 'normal' preset, 204MHz, it's fine with no sound, and the effective CPU Freq is 2856MHz (2.8GHz Intel P4). However, I'm becoming afraid that if I leave my computer on and leave the house even at the normal preset that I may risk a fire or something because of the squealing at the higher preset. Does the squealing suggest I should get another motherboard and/or CPU?

Essentially it sounds like something isn't getting enough power, so check to make sure the GPU is connected and reset all the voltages to stock/auto.
My 8800GT screamed like your comp does when I forgot to plug in the PCIE power. (I was so excited about the card it slipped my mind).

There is a known issue with a squeal being emmitted from the eVGA 680i boards. I suspected you had an eVGA 680i board even before I saw your system specs. Here are some examples at the eVGA and NVIDIA forums.
