That's how it was for me when I first got my DK. I got the board and RAM but didn't have money for a CPU yet. I couldn't use the one out of my rig at the time as it was AMD. I had to wait almost a month until I had enough money to buy a CPU. Needless to say it sucked. But not to worry It will be worth the wait!

How about if i said the AS5 was still the problem

I told my brother he had to pay for it. I asked him tonight if he ordered any and he said no. He thought i was going to order it and he would pay me back.

So now i'm going to have to order some tomorrow and wait until monday for it to arrive I wish i could get Saturday delivery but most E-tailers don't do it.

Do you have a Radio Shack subsidiary or authorized dealer? Here in the USA, Radio Shack sells AS5 in their stores. Just a thought.

Nope unfortunately not.

The UK isn't exactly BIG on PC enthusiasts. Most of it is online.

There are no PC enthusiast stores in my city It sucks.

We have a few independent stores in my area, but their prices on major components are way too high. I try to support them with smaller purchases, but the big boys just beat them out in quantity discounts.

Your telling me, i remember seeing a 7800GTX in a store near me for £250 last year. I nearly died!

Is there another BIOS revision for this board or is the stock BIOS fine?

When you order the AS5 get 2 tubes in case one gets lost you have a backup. That way you won't ever have to just stare at new parts again.

As far as a BIOS goes I believe the newest one was released in Feb. It has some optimizations for 45nm CPU's and it added a counter you can set for # of reboot retrys for failed oc(iirc)

Can't you use something for like 2 days as a temporary paste? Like make your own with stuff around the house? I'm not sure what that type of stuff is, but I've heard of people doing that for a few days.

BIOS was fine for me, but then i didn't put one of the 45nm chips in it.

Also, eBuyer do Saturday delivery, but you'd have had to have ordered it before 8pm and well.. Paying £10 delivery for a £4 tube of goo isn't really worth it if you ask me..
