Your homework assignment for tonight = http://www.edgeofstability.com/artic...fault_gtl.html
This **** makes my head hurt. Search through this site for a HUGE amount of information regarding GTL's in general and how they relate to VTT and CPUv.

Very confusing lol only page that helps most was the last few pages what i can understand up gtl will let you run with less vcore if you get it just right.

New to Overclock.net

Hello!
__________________I am new here. The reason for me being here is that I just ordered my first Intel CPU. I am an AMD guy. Had at least 6 self built AMDs but now with the E7200 from Intel I just wanted to try Intel. I ordered the DK P35-T2RS and the E7200. I chose the board because of this great thread here. I plan to cool the E7200 with a Scythe Katana. Since I am absolutely new to Intel, I would like to ask if there are any major differences that I should be careful with? I have standard Transcend DDR2-800 Ram. This should be enough to get a FSB of 400 running, right? Is the Katana maybe a bad decision? I know it is more entry level, but it kept my AMD X2 stable at decent overclocks. And the E7200 should not be that hot I guess. Thanks for any comments you can give.

I can think of better heatsinks than the Katana for similar cost, but what you've got should be perfectly sufficent for a moderate overclock.

DDR2 800 should get you about a 425 - 450 if you give it enough volts. Depending on how well they OC you may be able to get more. So yes they will do 400 fsb at stock.
The problem is, not many heat sinks fit on the DK. So i would wait for a few replies yet to see whether it will fit or not. I'm not entirely sure. But yes, it will be sufficient cooling, the 45nm CPU's don't put out much heat. You will more than likely hit a voltage wall before your temps. (don't go above 1.325 with 45nm CPU's)

I once had my GeIL DDR2 ramsticks at 450Mhz at 2.2v and they ran flawlessly. They're now at 425, linked 1:1 with my FSb, which is also 425 (x8 = 3400).
I've been itching to chage my cooler too, but i'm hesitant to do such a thing. My F7Pro fits, and it does an alright job.. I just don't wanna shell over £30 for a new HSF only to find i have to void the warrantee by removing the NB sink to fit the damn thing. As for the Katana... ![]() Hmm.. Couldn't say...

Having alot of trouble Overclock with new DFI DK P35 T2R-S board. I have heard that this is one of the best for overclocking, but I cant even do the most simplest overclocks on it. I had recently manged to bring the CPU up to 2922MHZ and was running that stable for a week until I decided to an all nighter Prime 95, in which THAT! failed after 7 hours. I have set the Vcore all the way up to 1.34, even though it should reach it on stock. I also upped NB Vcore to 1.5 with still no evail of booting past POST after 2922MHZ. Event the slightest increase in MHZ, and now apparently, that 2922 doesnt even work. Having alot of trouble here. On my old P5B Deluxe got to 3.7GHZ without a sweat. Do I have a bad board? Using my DMM, 12V read 11.99~11.98 on boot up and thats not the 12V rail dedicated to the CPU so I dont think its PSU crapping out, since I was able to reach 3.7 on the same PSU. Please Help
- Bios Is Flashed to Latest March, 2008 version. - RAM voltage set at- 2.07V - NB Vcore- 1.5 (Tried it at 1.45 and still nothing) - All RAM options are set to AUTO - PSU has dual Rails, 18A and 20A. Im assuming 18A is dedicated to CPU - Only change ive made from the past overclock is New GPU and new Mobo - I have posted on my mobo's official thread with no success - CPU shutdown temp is at 75C so I know its not temp related - E6750 processor @ 2.66GHZ - 2x 512MB DDR2 + 1GB DRR2 Corsair XMS (used same RAM for last rig) - Everything in Genie Bios is at auto except for- CPU VTT, CPU Special Add, NB Voltage, RAM voltage, MHZ - I ran the ram @ DDR2900 and the RAM booted up fine but when I brought the CPU to the appropiate speed using the 8X multiplier, froze at POST. - The error after 7 hours was in Mersene Prime ( A DOS version of Prime 95)

Only thing i could say is either you got a bum board or your psu cant handle the load of a new gpu and overclock. Cause i got my dfi up to 3760mhz with 1.46 vcore and currently running 450x8 with 1.39-1.40 vcore. The only setting i have touched are the ram volts and cpu volts rest is on stock lowest.

Right thats what I was thinking. Are the odds more towards the PSU or Mobo? Eitherway its not going to be fun to replace
