I've got the upgrade bug. Nehalem is coming up this year, and I know my E6600 will be good until that's out (and within a reasonable price), but I'm going crazy thinking that I can't upgrade this machine to a quad-core chip. I've never owned a DFI LP board in my life, but that's been one of my great ambitions since their nForce 2 boards for Socket A. Now seems as good a time as any though - there's an affordable, well-tuned and tested chipset on the market, and DFI has an affordable LP board for it. This computer will serve double-duty as a backup rig at some point I'm sure, and having a quad-core in it might prove useful at some point...
...or am I just trying to convince myself to waste money? Man, I'm seriously considering buying this motherboard.

imo the reason i decided to upgrade is look how long intel is taking to release the rest on the penryn line.. do you really think nehalem is going to be on time imo.. and also they are not proven or tested by anyone yet. now with intel's track record we can hope for the best but id still give it at least 6-12 months till the prices drop and they have all the issues worked out. ill be running a penryn for at least a year maybe longer.. also you can continue to use your hdd / ram/ gpu case etc.. that you have now with a new mobo.. with nehalem the case and hdd should be non-issue but the ram almost def will only be ddr3 by then and the gpu might be pcie 2.0 and we have no idea of backwards compatability though it would be stupid not to..

as great as this board sounds, the bios seemed to intricate for me, as ive heard all the DFI Bios' are. I ended up with with a DS3L until i learn to OC an intel chip then maybe ill dive into DFI. this seems like such an awesome board!

but its dfeinately harder to get something tuned right and stable on DFI Bios with OC options but once you know how to work with it its better than others
