First post. I'm working on my first Intel build (q6600 g0) and decided to order the DK from the Egg. It came today.

Criminal, was any modification required to mount the CPU cooler? I was going to order a TR Ultra 120 (which I'm assuming is "True"?), the Scythe copper Ninja, or Tuniq Tower. Probably the True. But now that I actually have the board in my hands, I'm not sure what kind of legit. cooler would possibly fit on it without some modding to the NB heatsink (which I am reluctant to do, though it's not out of the question.)

Also, how's that PCI Slot Fan help with your temps? I assume it's there to drag air over the Accelero and out of the case?

You would be interested in the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme if you want a TRUE as there are two models, one of which is extreme and the other is not. From the looks of it you can mount a TRUE without any mods to the NB HS. And welcome to the DK club

Ah, Extreme. That explains the "E". Thanks for the knowledge.

I've been an AMD man up until this build - I've been hoping for green to make a big comeback, but the prices on the c2q chips made it a no brainer. I've also been a Gigabyte fan, and this is my first non-gigabyte board. It has slightly less features than the ep35 ds3r (which was the board I was originally planning on getting) but I've never read a thread where so many people were this pumped about a <$150 board, so you all played a big role in my decision.

That's great news about the cooler. I may take my board in to Micro Center just so I can see it for my self before I order, because no matter how hard I stare at the DK, I just can't see a TRUE or Ninja getting on there.

Hell - I'll order it tonight if someone else can confirm that no mods are required or it to work as intended.

FWIW, I'm building in a p182, so I don't think I should have worries about any of the afore mentioned coolers fitting. If anyone has any recommendations for a <$70 cooler that doesn't sound like an airplane taking off (and more importantly is compatible with the DK out of the box) I'd love some advice.

I too was an AMD user and Gigabyte user before my current sig rig. Couldn't feel better about my system and going blue.

No modification was needed. Fit on there perfect... tight fit but it worked without issue.
