I know, that's what pisses me off. Without ram installed I get the three lights (crazy), and I haven't even made it into the bios. It just flat out won't post. I have some crap hynix pc2-3200 I'm gonna try when I get home, already tried the G.skill 1000mhz ram individually in all 4 slots and nada. Everyone said this board was awesome, only problem was the thermal cement they use on the NB hardens, so I pulled the HS off, cleaned the cement off, polished it back out and applied artic silver 5. Other than that I haven't touched this stinkin thing. I also saw in the manual that it says the ram voltage would be 2.62~ volts, but I don't think a cleared CMOS would put that kind of voltage into a module. CPU INIT is as far as the LCD poster gets. Will head home in about 45 and report back.

If all your three of your RAM LEDs light up you might want to check your BIOS Volt settings.
Cheers

PS I have seen several reports of G-Skill 2x2 8000s working just fine on the MF, (I should know; I've been researching this board and this RAM combo since November) It does seem that the MF board is quite prone to QC issues. If you get a good one you're Golden, if you get a bad one, you're not. ( the good news is that they doesn't seem to be an "iffy" middle ground.
They're Go/No Go
For More reading than you ever want/need on the MF boot errors (RAM, cpu init etc.) wander on over to
Clunk's MF Thread & MF Living Review
or just browse around their site, there are 5-6 lengthy threads devoted entirely to the MF.
same goes for Xtreme Systems' Intel MoBos (Multiple MF Threads)
Of which OCN's BNK (and other OCNers) offers significant contributions
. eg. Maximus OC & Lengthy MF Thread
Cheers
Hope you find some answers in all of that good info!

Reset CMOS first on the back of the board, if that doesn't work take the battery out and reset the jumper. Post back what happens.

Did that last night. Was up till about 1 in the morning jacking around with it. Will try again. Bout to head home with 2 different types of ram. Some generic 667, and some hynix 400 ddr2.

Use the BIOS lcd poster. If the screen doesnt light up, then your mobo is dead
Edit: Pay no attention to that ^^^

If you set your ram voltage to 2.62, its probably dead by now.

cpu init means there is a problem with your processor. I have seen OCN members switch out boards and get this error. They later realized, after pulling the CPU, that there was some AS5 on the bottom of the CPU's LGA (contact points). Cleaning the contacts with alcohol fixed the issue.

So I would pull the CPU and see what the contacts look like.

I put in my e6600, removed EVERYTHING, got beeps this time looking for ram, put in the ram, beeps looking for video, put in video, and it would post. Put in the q6600, and it also posted. Jacked around in the bios (came with 0401) and flashed to 0903 using ezflash. Jacked around in the bios some more, saving settings and restarting, and now it's back to init cpu, nothing. Pulled memory, video card, and still nothing, just init cpu. Have the switch on the psu off right now so the mb is getting 0 power and the lcd poster is off. I think I'm going to rma this board and switch brands, I've had nothing but problems with this board already, and my 650i asus was a piece of crap. I don't know how this thing could magically stop working. Even if "overclock failed" it should still revert back to stock and at least post. I've had it, this board took the fun right out of it.

Looks like 2 pins are bent. This thing is shot. Tried bending them back and it's dead. Will get a magnifying glass and something meant to bend them back tomorrow and report back. I have the absolute worst luck. Still don't know how it worked and then didn't, that's the crazy part. Anyway, thanks for the help.

I read up recently on ASUS's RMA policy for damaged CPU sockets. They state they will charge $45 for damaged sockets...

Good luck with the RMA.

$45 is better than being out $333 with shipping for this board. =\ We'll see what happens. Thanks again!

Yeah I agree. They tend to charge this when the board is sent back without the CPU socket cover. So at least make sure the socket cover is on when you RMA.
