Default 780i 4x1gb problems

Hey everyone, so aside from receiving a dead gt, my build is going great, except the fact that I cannot get 4x1gb of my 1066 ballistx to run.

I cannot even post with it, it just blue screens half way through the boot screen.

Is there something I am supposed to do to make it post properly? I would appreciate any and all help.

Thanks guys.

yeah, im sitting here with two sticks running @ 800. I don't really care if i can run at crazy speeds right now, i just want this sucker to be stable with 4 gigs. 2 gigs is noticeably slower in vista 64.

I wish i could find someone to either buy my ram, or trade me a decent 2x2gb kit.

Any ideas? How do I know what bios I am running, i understand that there are new ones.

Is this a new install?

The 780i memory controller has issues with 4x1GB and high clockspeeds.

yeah, just last week. I am not trying to run high speeds, just sitting at 800. I just want it to be able to post (more than once, as it posted once, then blue screened), and be stable. Is it worth just selling my ram and getting a 2x2gb kit?

Duckie sounds correct, even though an XFX board here, the mempry controller across the board for all vendors has issues. Especially something with Crucial as it seems (doesn't make sense) When running 4 sticks of ballistix, I has to raise the voltage to 2.4 just to run them at 1000. Hope that helps, as you may need to increase the VMem...

ok well, i found the hotfix your mentioning, and it said that it "does not apply to this system". I'm at a loss.

I would love to throw these on the for sale thread, but that obviously isn't going to happen.
