I have, and I think it is a combination of things.

First- Crucial Ballistix PC8000 and PC8500 modules were taken off the X38 compatibility QVL by intel. Something about D9's and the x38 not being friendly.

Second, most MF boards OV the DIMMs. Between 1.80 and 2.0V I get .10V over. From 2.00-2.20 I get ~.12-.14V over. 2.24V in bios actually measures 2.40V with my Fluke DMM.

Interesting bit about the QVL. My Mushkins were D9's. Do you happen to have a link to any information?

I know about the overvolt and took it into account, I wasn't at max voltage when it happened even with the 11 milivolts o/v on my board.

I've had this board since November running 4x1GB Ballistix with no problems. Maybe I'm lucky, but the RAM works great! Almost all PC2-8500 Ballistix are D9GMH. If you're on a warranty, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Take a look HERE and HERE.

i just loaded up my maximus formula and started overclocking an older pentium d 960. i was really hoping to get it up to aroung 5GHz, but am having problems pushing the FSB past 240. i've tried keeping the mem down to 800 and upping the CPUv, but no luck. i've got good temps, 21C idle and around 35C load. any suggestions?

QVL can be found here:

http://www.asus.com/999/download/pro...89/1889_10.pdf

Remember, the QVL is NOT a limitation. It is just what the mobo manufacturer tested discretely on the board. RAM manufacturers test a much wider array of RAM on different boards. It was Crucial that removed their RAM from the Maximus compatibility list; Ballistix never were on the ASUS QVL to begin with.

Is your name from Monty Python?
