Lower voltage is a property of die shrinkage. You don't put at much vcore in 45nm as you do in 65nm, same as 65nm versus 90nm. You don't need too. Anyone putting tons of voltage into a 45nm is doing it because they don't know what they are doing, not because the CPU needs it to overclock. The 45nm process in its mature state is suppose to do upwards of 3.6Ghz on less than 1V.

Got it up to 400 x 9 = 3600Mhz, DDR2-800 4-4-4-12, and a 400/800 memory setting. It is stable enough to use and benchmark with, but it is not orthos stable. I think I need to increase the VTT voltage, but I do not know how to adjust the GTL accordingly.

Thanks, but I think you missed this post. The basic tweaks are pretty straightforward. I've seen clunk's review, I'll probably reference it if and when I buy my q6600/x3220. For now I have the exact same FSB wall I had with the QuadGT, and it's a hard wall.

E4300 = 200 x 9 -> 1.8Ghz stock volts (1.35)
E4300 = 334 x 9 -> 3.0Ghz stock volts (1.35)
E4300 = 345 x 9 -> 3.1Ghz vCORE @ ~1.39
E4300 = 356 x 9 -> 3.2Ghz vCORE @ ~1.42
E4300 = 370 x 9 -> 3.333Ghz vCORE @ 1.5
E4300 = 380 x 9 -> 3.42Ghz vCORE @ 1.56

What about NB voltage, have you bumped it up at all? (I'd try ~1.35) Also I don't think you need to touch VTT yet or GTL ref(Yet).

I've only run SPI and 3Dmark06, so nothing conclusive, but so far clock for clock X48 T2R = P965 QuadGT... I have been able to push my HZs to 1150mhz which was impossible on the QuadGT, at this point the DFI board becomes slightly faster, otherwise when using the exact same settings SuperPI times are nearly identical.

Other random thought, at least the DFI X48's digital PWM(Volterra) isn't noisy... My QuadGT's PWM used to drive me crazy(high pitch squeal with no load)!

This is where i'm at. I've read several links to GTL and can't seem to figure out how to find the best settings. The previous boards that incorporated GTL were limited to 70ish and this board goes to over 100. If I could figure out any indicators that i'm going in the right direction or a number to work towards, besides just stability, i'd be in much better shape. I've tried to use time to fail, in orthos/P95, as a measure but that has proven to not work as it's ramdom failure in either direction. I have noticed that P95 only fails on thread process 1 (assuming that corrolates to core 1), so i'm wondering if adjusting just that GTL would make it pass. But finding which direction to take it is the problem. Is there a program that will change the GTL settings inside windows? I don't mind rebooting into the bios but inside windows would be much faster.

I'm really considering a CPU upgrade after the much anticipated price drops... Not quite sure whether it should be a 65nm quad or 45nm dual. I hope the results of other DFI LT X48 owners will provide compelling proof/reason for one or the other.

Yeah, your in the same boat as myself. I would like to play around with it, but I just don't have the time.

Been pretty busy lately. I tried 3.6Ghz, (400 x 9), but it didn't work. I increased the CPU vcore up to my maximum of 5% over stock (1.3335V) whiched was quite a jump over what I needed for 3.33Ghz (370 x 9 @ 1.27500V), so I don't think it is the CPU. I increased the NB voltage but that didn't help either. The computer was stable enough to run and benchmark, just not orthos stable.

I tried the, up the Vcore to max then increase the FSB till it fails, approach but this board doesn't like that. I'm starting to think it's all about the GTL settings. I was stuck at 3.3ghz till I slowed down and started messing with the GTL settings. When I couldn't get the GTL settings to dial it in, I increased the Vcore just 2 increments and it became stable at 3.4ghz. I'll mess with the GTL settings again till I feel I need to increase the Vcore again. After reading a few more articles about OCing with GTL settings, i've gone back to using time to fail, in P95, as a measure of dialing GTL settings in. From what i've read, GTL 0-2 is core 1-3 and GTL 1-3 is 2-4. Using 4 worker threads in P95, I can tell which core is unstable and then adjust that GTL according, what ever that may be . It's going to be slow going but the board is always rock solid where my 680i board would easily become unstable. My goal is only 3.6ghz 24/7 on air so hopefully it won't be too hard to get 200mhz more.

The X48 chip is very good.
I have the Rampage x48, I set my computer to 1.2500V, 333Mhz FSB (3.00Ghz), memory to 2.08V, memory speed to 1000mhz. Super stable!
