LOL. I seen the thread, bent pins

I hope if I ever have to RMA anything with EVGA I don't have the same bad luck as you, did you get it sorted in the end?

Okay guys, i'm back with disappointment. Although, I ran the 3 types of different test with OCCT and they all passed, last night I tried running prime95 overnight, and it got stuck.

I have 1000mhz 5/5/5/15/2T at 2.1v RAM
CPU FSB is 1750mhz with 9X at (1.36v on cpu-z) so around 1.8v at bios.

Still need help in getting it stabled =(

Do you guys think I should just increase the voltage? The type of screen stuck that I got was like there was a black screen. When I press a caps lock button on keyboard ( that's how I usually check if it really froze) and I tried moving the mouse, it doesn't do anything so it froze.

Well your running at 3.825 now (1750-425x9) I would not recommend running your cpu higher than 1.38 (I think 1.8 above is a typo) in bios, the 45nm intel cpu's are specked at 1.3625 max, and even tho cpu-z is reading that the voltage spikes will bring it to 1.38 when throttled up n down (search vdroop explained).

I would recommend either trying to lower you FSB to say 1725 (3.7GHz) or maybe try upping your FSB to 1.5 (or 1.45 if there is an option)

Note that another voltage to watch out for on 45nm cpu's is the FSB VTT voltage, you can get a reading of it from everest beta under "sensor".

Again, its something that will be hard to figure out. Just because you see other E8400's running at 4.0 and beyond, there are plenty that cant get past 3.6. Some cpu's just dont overclock as well as others and adding extra voltage past the recommended spec is only going to shorten the life of the cpu.

If you could find a different motherboard to test that cpu in you would be able to know whether its the mobo or cpu.

But judging from everyone here running Q's at 450 FSB Id say its your cpu..

sorry... I know it sucks.... I was really hoping for 3.6 from my Q6600 but it just wont do it......

When I look at CPU-Z, it shows me that the core speed is 3937mhz on 1750 FSB with 9x multiplier. The bus speed is 437.5mhz.

sorry about that....

either way if its unstable I would downclock yours a bit rather than over volting it.

10acjed is 3.4 the best you could do on that board or was your cooling not good enough to justify keeping it any higher due to stress on the system? Just courious because Im thing about getting this board. Figure that I would just upgrade gpus for awhile instead of new system and with the option of sli cant beat it. I use my comp basicly for school and gaming. (Network Adm./Network Security major).

How has everyone's luck been with getting the Q9550 to 4.00GHz with this board? With the new price drops coming up, I was thinking of picking one up to replace my E8400, which is at 4.40GHz right now, but I'm worried it might not overclock as well on this board. I really don't want to take the plunge if I'm not going to be able to hit close to 4.00GHz, and I can't justify switching to another board just to get the Q9550 overclocked. If I can't do it on this board, then I'll just wait until my next major overhaul.

Temps are fine for me. My Q6600 is a 1.3125 VID so even with 1.525v bios Im not stable at 3.6GHz, so I just settled for 3.4GHz at 1.4625v bios (1.43v windows....

the board can do 450 FSB and some have gotten beyond it...

Looking at your specs I'd say your options are pretty even tho..

if you can find a good price on a 8800GT (100$) then it would be best price/performance match IMO.... 750i - 170 + 8800GT - 100 = 270

cheapest 280GTX i could find is $324 - 304$ after MIR
