But as you can see in my sig, not all Q6600 will do 3.6, I have settled for 3.4 as of right now. Maybe try my settings, 8x multi, 1700 (3.4), and bios voltages - cpu 1.45v - FSB 1.4v - SPP 1.5v, see if you are stable there, if so, move to 1750 (3.5) and try again...if not, try 1.46.
I have tried 3.6 @ 1.525v and it failed in under 10min, its my cpu, just doesnt want to run that fast.

RED indicates areas of concern, 1.78v and only 3.66? I would think you could get 4.35 with that
I settled with using a mutiplier of 9 for 3.6 and leaving my ram at auto/800/5-5-5-18 @ 1.9v because that seems the most stable in prime95 for me (also 3 hours of Call of Duty 4 with no crashes)

I have noticed this bios is very tempermental, some settings will work flawlessly for a while, then any slight change will result in not posting and having to reset cmos and re-input the same settings it seems like I can make 10 or so changes before it has a hit and I have to reset.. maybe a new bios will fix this?

Thanks for your time .

10acjed,

even with the 80mm fan on the northbridge, the heatsink was extremely hot. This is the case with the stock fan. How is your fan doing on the northbridge. Is it effective?

When everest reports on the motherboard temp, where is the sensor located on the mb? I read before somewhere that it was located near the northbridge. Can anyone confirm.

silentace,

I think your overclock is just too high with not enough voltage. Although I've experienced problem with this board with poor ram settings. Have you ran memtest pre OS install?

My stable overclock:

core 2 duo e6400 2.13 ghz running at 3.47

This is much higher than what I could get on my old p5n32e sli plus (2.8ghz)

Cheers,

tg

i believe the sweet spot for RAM right now is a 2x2GB kit.

Two DIMMs provides a more stable overclock than four DIMMs, because it is extra lanes the motherboard has to worry about. Think of the DIMMs as streets and the RAM as houses... It would be a lot easier visiting 2 houses on 2 roads each than to visit 1 house on each of the 4 roads.

If I were you, I would use two 1 GB sticks and be sure they are in dual channel mode (color coded on your mobo)

ex (these are the DIMM slots):

| | | |

So for two dimms, you would have them in both of the blue slots.

Also make sure you manually give the memory the correct voltage to spec (based on the manufacturer) to ensure RAM stability. Then when you start getting stable overclocks, you can start playing with the RAM timings etc...

Hope that helped

Not sure where it is located, I changed its postition to the back of my case exactly where the NB is and have it as an exaust fan now.

Addes a 120mm exaust at front bottom of case, and moved my dvd drive to bottom bay and added a 120mm blowing in at top front.

lowered all temps, but most impressively is the Motherboard now sitting at 32c

Wow. Why stop after 47 min?? Keep it goin!! 520FSB is INSANE! (for nvidia chippies)

God i love this board.

*EDIT*

tried 8x500 on mine, and when it rebooted, system went into "Safe mode" 267x8 for some reason... Maybe the Kentsfield doesn't like that... Then again I do have SZ12 BIOS.. I'll try flashing.
