God i love this board.

*EDIT*

tried 8x500 on mine, and when it rebooted, system went into "Safe mode" 267x8 for some reason... Maybe the Kentsfield doesn't like that... Then again I do have SZ12 BIOS.. I'll try flashing.
Nice temps too. Man those new 45nm chips run cool.

And the temps where cool too. Remember he is running a dual core and basically an E8400, they always seem to OC better than quads.

is it possible that a system can't even be side stepped... let alone overclocked at all? I can't even get my board to run at 2.4 with a x8 multi

I have exhausted everything i could possibly try... my first time overclocking has become a failure

yes i had already pulled the extra 1 gig stick out (sorry my sig doesn't reflect that) and they are both in the correct slots for them to run in dual channel mode. Voltage for my ram has been set to either 2.0 or 2.1 (the recommended settings according to the specs of my ram) and either set to optimal timing or manually 5-5-5-15-2T

Nothing seems to work. Makes it to windows every time and programs are loading but then it just locks up after all the programs load into the task bar... pretty much happens about 10 seconds after windows loads everytime...

Have you tried running a memtest on your memory.

http://www.memtest86.com/

Go to the free download and save to your computer.

This is the ISO program you can use to make an ISO disc.

http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

1. Extract the file
2. Burn an ISO disc,
3. Put it in the tray, make sure CD is your first boot device
4. Start the computer and run the memory test.

This test stresses your memory. If you get any errors your memory is having probelms. Then you can try to adjust the memory from your current point with looser timing, lower/higher voltages etc.

Hope this helps.

Yeah i have it burnt to a CD... will run it for a couple hours and see. Ran it for about half an hour with 2.1v 5-5-5-15 1066 and nothing wrong.

Lesson learned... don't use xp 32bit. I am using Vista 32 bit right now and i just booted and ran 9x with 1333 fsb and 1066 ram to windows and it was running stable on no load. Ran OCCT and it made the desktop go white after a few minutes... so getting close.

Going to go down to 8x and see if i can get it more stable then it is now. Thanks everyone for the help and patience with me. Guess i should of thought earlier that maybe it was the OS alone stopping it.

I dont know man, just doesnt seem to make sense.

Have you tried running OCCT at stock settings? Maybe its a bad cpu/motherboard..

Do you have access to another cpu?

Its working fine with Vista just ran prime95 for over an hour at 1200fsb x9 2.6 and it ran stable. Running 1250 right now and its working fine so far at x9. The problem was definately the operating system.

Thanks for all the help again
