for 800MHz try 4-4-4-12.
QFT!

I have my OCZ repear running at 812 MHz (it will do this to about 925 but I have it linked and auto for now) 3-4-4-12 1t and get more bandwidth 4380MBs versus the stock timing of 1066 MHz5-5-5-12 2t with 4230 MBs.

FSB (QDR) MHz: 1475

Nf 200 auto (120)

My issue is that my core temps are ranging from 48 to 53 degrees C, and that is a little warm from what I have seen. Is there anything that anyone can suggest to cool things down? Or change to make what I have better. I would like to try to 3.6, but am worried that I will ruin my system. Also, how long does one run Orthos and at what setting to get a good stress test on the system.

Thanks for any and all suggestions,

Id push your FSB up to 1.4 and your SPP to 1.5, then try backing off the cpu volts, intel recommends up to 1.3625 on those cpu's 1.38 is a bit high

yeah. 45nm should be taking 1.3625v max .... Especially on air.

Many people have destroyed their 45nm CPU because they put way too much voltage into it.

Thats a 65nm chip, good til about 1.5 via intel spec finder, however id suggest manually setting it to something rather than auto, it may not need that much..

We are refering to a 45nm chip E8xxx E7xxx Q9xxx theyre not supposed to be above 1.3625 via intels spec finder

I've passed memtest no problem, I'll make sure my timings are set up better. I was under the impression that looser timings meant the RAM was not getting pushed thereby making it easier for them to pass prime95. I'll try something a bit tighter and give it a whirl.

Thanks Micros, yellowtobleron (what's wrong with the cream coloured white chocolate ones?) and Tuf.

I set the timings better and seems to have helped a bit. Then I tried switching my testing from Blend over to Small FFTs. Switched it from testing the cpu and ram and went to just cpu. Does not fail after 30s when only testing cpu. Cranked up the FSB to 1675 and still no problems. I think it is my RAM that's giving me problems.

I have my ram voltage set to 2.1 which is suggested when it's running at 1066MHz, maybe I should lower the voltage as it's running less than that now? Am not sure if lowering voltage on anything ever increases stability.

Am also stressed about my CPU FSB voltage, seems many people are playing at about 1.4v, but I still cannot raise mine over 1.2 without getting bluescreens.

Honestly, I have never heard that brand of RAM before... That may be your culprit. If you ever want to try something else, stick with big names like Crucial or G.Skill.

Lowering the voltage will never increase stability.. Only decrease it. I find it's best to run the RAM at it's suggested voltage regardless of speed/timings. Because even 0.1v over the suggested spec could cause damage while 0.1v under could cause instability... It's a risk not worth taking.

Hmm... this may be kind of silly but are you sure your plugged the fan on the northbridge in? (came in a seperate small black box in the packaging). I can't really think of anything else that would cause these BSOD's.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Yeah, I'd never heard of the ram either, but after some research I found that it used one of the 'good' chips inside, the Micron D9GKX specifically. I decided on these firestix because they used one of the good chips, and were rated at 1066. But yeah, I am wondering about that ram too.

The nb fan is connected, I turned it up to 100% while I am OCing too.

I need to swap the ram and see if I can get stable at > 1600 FSB clock. I'll see if I can borrow some from somewhere..

next steps:
find ram to try to get stable at 1600-1700
then figure out 1.2v max problem so I can go past 1700
by then I will need better cooling

edit: I so don't get this, seems if I put fsb at 1.2v it prime95s fine - rock solid, but one tick up to 1.25v and it fails prime95 in 30seconds. I just don't get this... *cries a bit, quietly, like a man*
