thats a nice vid, fairly low. temps are definately gonna b e your limiting factor when you crank that thing up, esspecially since it summer. i've noticed the temp increase. even went as far as lapping my xiggy (didn't do the q9550 cause it just cost too much) noticed like only about a 2*C drop. but anyways looking forward to what you can get that q6600 to. make sure to post here with the results when it happens

Why did you lap a heatpipe direct touch cooler :/

Anyways I have had a Q6600 before, it was a 1.2725VID and I ran it 24/7 @ 3.7ghz 1.45v on my P35 board. Temps were solid. I have A/C so its not a concern, my biggest concern is noise. I have a fan controller on my scythe slipstream on the Xiggy, so I keep it turned all the way down. On the 45nm dual, that means 40c load, but on the 65nm quad...well see.

mostly because i could but it also slightly increased the surface area of the heat-pipes. and it almost got rid of the little gaps between the base and the heat-pipes. i didn't ruin the cooler and also got slightly better temps so i was glad with the way it turned out. here is a pic:

lol, just traded my e8400es for a q6600 from CL3P20. First quad for me. 1.3125VID. Currantly nailing down 3.6Ghz before I push for 3.7. Getting some randum lock ups even though she's passing stress tests. Gonna work on the mobo settings a bit.

Yeah I would get that alot with my E8400 when I had her above 4.3ghz. Prime was 24hrs stable, same with OCCT and orthos, but firefox (the true stress test) would lock up whenever it felt like it haha

I'm beginning to think it's my PSU.

My e8500 at 4.25 or the equivalent of 1800 QDR would always randomly lock up. It passed 24 hours prime stress test but that's not always 100%. I run it at 1600 QDR with little to no problems now.

Pizzaman, why dont you "rent" a spare from your local best buy and see if its truly the problem?

Pulled out the trusty multimeter today. 12v rail is running 11.36v idel and 11.31v load. Not sure how low before need to worry. Left it running prime while I was out today and core 3 failed. Gonna try more voltage.
