maybe... but the 750i is just such a great board. i would bet to get a high clock close or at 4GHz you would prob have to go to water cooling.

i replaced the TIM on the stock NB/SB cooler and i dropped 10ºC on the NB at idle and load. its sitting at 43ºC right now, used to always be high 50ºCs

you could try dropping the multi to x8 and kick the fsb up to 1800. 1800 seems to be a very comfortable fsb for this board.

Keep working on it.

Woot! After spending most the day restarting my machine. I'm finally stable at 3.6Ghz. The GTL scans only helped a little. Lanes 0 and 1 where able to run anything between 0 and 160 and be stable. Just left them at 50 for the sake of it. Lanes 2 and 3 failed above 140 and would pass at 0. So I bumped them up to +70. The real kicker that gave the stabilty I've been looking for was giving my NB 1.55v. Yea, kind of high. Max load SPP temp is now 59C according to everrest.

Replacing the TIM doesn't sound like a bad idea. Can the heatpipes be removed w/o removing the board from tray?

Currant settings:

FSB/QDR 1600 X 9 multi
vCore 1.47v CPUz, no vdroop (still testing lower, but prbly not gonna be able to lower to much)
vFSB 1.32v
SPP 1.55V
MCP 1.60v
HT 1.3v
PLL 1.6V

GTL lane 0 +50
GTL lane 1 +50
GTL lane 2 +70
GTL lane 3 +70

I have been. I get immediate lockups above 1560QDR as well as it will SHUT DOWN and restart. I dont even get to try the GTL lane modification since P95 never has a core fail, it always just locks up or shuts down (shuts down at higher FSB, locks up at 1560 still).

I also dropped my ram from 1040mhz (3:2) to 780mhz (1:1) and that seems to have helped stability. The good news is I am only running 1.4v SPP and 1.45v FSB, where before I ran 1.55v on both. What ram settings does this board like most?

Also, I have not touched MCP, HT, and PLL voltages, what/where are they haha?

I was passing 12 hours P95, but getting randum lockups to. OCCT's Linpack seemed to be the best at catching this error in under an hour. It's good to use more then one stress test. Try some other tests to see which is going to catch the error. Sounds like your in the same boat as me and fighting with the board more then the CPU. I have my ram running at 800. I dout I will be able to get this thing to do 1066, but it will be my next objective. I would suggest just runn at 800 until you get the CPU stable.

The 750i boards don't have MCP, HT or PLL ajustments. It would be nice to have MCP, but don't worry to much about not having HT and PLL. If I where you I would go ahead and bump the SPP to 1.5v and see if that takes care of your stabilty with randum lockups.

BTW, kept all the same settings as 1600QDR, but bumped the vFSB to 1.42v and passed 1800QDR with an 8 multi last night.

I tightened the timings to 4-4-4-12 to make myself feel better about how poorly its running. should I loosen them?

nah, it's more the freq that's hard on the NB then the timings. These board really like tight timings. I'm running 800Mhz 4-4-4-12
