EVGA 750i FTW Overclock Thread

hey guys could you help me get started overclocking on my new board? im trying to reach at least 3.0-3.6 and im pretty much new to the whole overclocking scene. It' was much more simplier when i was still on my gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L but now it just seems completely new to me again now.

my spec's are all in my sig, and if possible pm me directions? thanks.

i only had about half hour yesterday to play with it, but got stable at

cpu: q6700 3350 mhz 335x10 @ 1.5v
fsb: auto volt
memory: 4x 1gb corsair dominator @ 1110 2.2v
NB volt: auto

gonna try and refine it again later, when i get more time

fine tuning is the best part isnt it

here some screens of what seems to be my sweet spot..

all updated with gpu OC, cpu OC, Ram OC, its cookin now..

Now its time to break out the zip ties and start cleanin up the case...

Just play around with your BIOS voltage/frequencies and run prime95 (small fft) for stability.

For starters, try your SPP @ 1.5v and your CPU FSB @ 1.4v and go from there. As for your RAM voltage, that depends on it's rated voltage, and CPU core also depends on that chip.

What PCIE Freq are you guys setting in bios???
I had read over at evga forms that 125 would help stability..

But

I just fried a vid card...

Im real gun shy at the moment... Wondering if its my PSU.. I dont have a tester, have to pick one up tomorrow...

I was doing some graphics stability testing with FurMark and came in to find my pc shut down... wouldnt power up at all... open the side and smelled the worst thing an enthusiast could smell... I almost cried....

Pics attached of my findings... thats a heatsink from my older 8800GT... and yes that is a piece of the mem it was cooling still stuck to it....The new one I got yesterday is fine..

Just dont wana do it again... I was lucky enough to be able to shell out the $ for a new one, gona see how my 1yr warranty holds up on it since its supposedly covered.

I am going to try the pencil mod for vdroop tonight.

The vcore drops from 1.4 to 1.36 at load, i am hoping it will fix that.

ouch that sucks. What settings were u messing with? I just leave my PCI-E freq stock...

DK, check your PM's...

try changing the "1:1" ratio to synchronous. (that way CPU and RAM will run at same speed)
