the blue screens can still be being caused by a bad bios update...

If i were you id look into RMAing the board... or post something over at the evga forums about your issue...
well i would RMA but i just dont think that this is the hardware's fault. i feel like it has to be the BIOS as it didnt do this before i updated.

maybe i'm just crazy.

i just dont wanna let this board go! lol

well what i was referring to is the chance that you may have affected something within the bios when updating... It does happen, usually it wont even post, but in your case it could be a corrupted file.....

try diff bios, be sure defaults are loaded when u update and see what happens

Alright, so i flashed back to SZ17 and i still had the same issue.

However, after i went in to the bios, i had my memory tightened up a bit too much and i also set my FSB voltage to Auto.

Not really sure which was the one that was affecting it, but i ran it for several hours afterwords and even did some video converting and it seemed to fix the problem.

Is it ok for me to set the FSB to Auto or not reccomended?

Usually an FSB voltage set to auto, while overclocked, can cause instability, since the system can't really "predict" what voltage will be required by the overclock. I wouldn't recommend it, unless you are at stock settings.

hmmm, well it seems to me like its running ok under load.

and in the bios it only has around three settings that are either grey colored or green and the rest are red am i right?

but when i look at the settings on your first post that show what everyone is using, it looks as though they are using red voltages.

i dont wanna ask if this could potentially damage my cpu because any overclocking can but am i just digging the grave faster?

K first time Overclocking got some stupid questions.

1: when I go to my multiplier I have it unlocked and enabled... but it wont let me do 9.5 even though I have an e8500. Kind of wondering why... cause that was the point in spending extra 30 bucks lol

2: on cpu Z i have 2 different readings. One is a 3.892mhz (9x multi) and the other is a 2594mhz (6x multi) and it keeps alternating. I'm running at 1.36vcore right now.

so ya what gives?

read my guide below and disable spread apesctru-cie-e1st-speedstep etc...

set voltages for board same as page 1 of this thread and keep cpu volts below 1.36v

ok i'm finally ready. got my tuniq tower and it dropped my temps 15 degrees! (thanks 10acjed) (pain in the butt to install tho)

but microsis i have all my settings for over clock here they are

Frequencies/Timings
CPU: Q6600 @ 9 x 377 FSB = 3.4GHz
RAM: 2x2GB Crucial @ 800MHz 4-4-4-12 2T
Voltages
CPU Core: 1.4375v
CPU FSB: 1.4v
Mem: 1.9v
SPP: 1.5v

I think i will try to OC a little more but at this rate its hitting around 58c which makes me weary. Thanks again guys!

Hello. I just got done overclocking the E8500. I did not enable the multiplier. I left it alone. It gave me the 9.5. When I went through the guide and used it I did most of everything it said. The only exception was the ram. I entered in my own setting of 1066. When I left it linked it would only get around 870. Here is what volts worked for me.

CPU Core: 1.35v
CPU FSB: 1.4v
Mem: 2.1v {yours may be different do to your ram}
SPP: 1.5v

I have my ram set at recommended settings. 2.1v 5 5 5 18 2T 1066

10acjed was a lot of help and so was his guide. I was able to get a stable OC at 4.037. I got up to 4.25 but had stability issues. I got the e8500 over the e8400 due to it was only $5 more at the time. Figured why not. Even at $30 you will not regret it.

Hope this helps.

The red colored voltages in the BIOS are there to warn people that these voltages could harm the motherboard. However, since the board has come out, I have run 1.4 and 1.5v on the FSB and SPP respectively, with no issues. Any voltage higher than stock, I believe, is a risk, therefore overclocking is a risk. Just make sure you have decent airflow in your case and you should have no problems.

You could try 8 x 425 for 3.4Ghz, possibly allowing a lower Vcore (therefore, lower temps). That would also put your RAM at 850MHz. (assuming sync-mode; but may require a little more Mem voltage)
