Hello
__________________I recently (today actually) purchased a GA-EP35-DS3L motherboard for $90. I would like to know if I am getting as good a deal as I would buying a GA-P35-DS3L for $110. From what I was able to tell they both have the same specs, but the one I bought is more energy efficient when the Dynamic Energy Saver mode is enabled. Is this the successor to the old GA-P35-DS3L as Newegg led me to believe? EDIT: want to know about DES, will my components all get the energy they need at stock settings? Major components are XFX 8800 GTS G92 video card, 4GB of 1066Mhz ram, and a Q6600 processor.

Yeah I'd like to know this too, because I was all set to buy a Ga-P35-DS3L from newegg when it disappeared. The EP35 seems similar, but ive heard it has issues with the bios remembering volatages, even if the DES is disabled. Is this true?

I have the new EP35 version. Right it does have the issue with not saving CPU voltage. BUT if you reset CMOS you can save the CPU as normal just fine. If you power down for awhile you might have to do it again. I am fully confident this will be fixed on their next BIOS update since its known by Gigabyte and IMHO should be a simple fix for them.
__________________As far as the board itself, I have had good luck with it so far. It does have a rather large VDroop for CPU voltage but just go by what CPU-Z tells you for that. I am running a E8400 3.0@4.0 with no issues.

Heard about that too, several guy's said do not install the DES in the first place and your fine. Said it's the first thing in a checkbox list, said to keep it unchecked.

Its a BIOS issue, not the DES. Though IMHO you do not want to install DES either for OCing. Anyway, best of luck and keep us updated on how it goes for you.

I was speaking from personal experience just as a FYI. I just got the motherboard last week. That's why I know it has nothing to do with installing DES.

I believe the "E" stands for energy efficient or something to that effect. I got the plain old GA-P35-DS3L and it is an unbelievable overclocker.

My bad. I have been doing so much reading today I became quite tired, and did not notice yours was the same as mine. So then what’s the workaround for this problem? And could you link some articles if you know of any? I know you said resetting CMOS works, but is there not a better permanent option available?

For now its the only solution I have found. IMHO its not a big deal, I reset my CMOS once and that's it. I do not power off my system so I have not had to reset it again.
__________________Like I said though, I am sure they will fix the issue quickly in a BIOS update. I really would not sweat it if I were you. If resetting the CMOS is a pain for you, you can still overclock. Just have to stick with stock voltage until the next BIOS update for it.
