Default recommend a new board

For my sig rig. I thought I'd fried my e6400, but I just tested it in an abit ip35 pro and the chip works fine. Thus, my board is dead. This'll be the fourth p5n-e I've had to return, and it has FSB holes right around where my chip tops out, so I'm done with the p5n-e.

Sooo...looking for good recommendations for what to replace the p5n-e with from my sig rig. Nothing pricey, preferably under $100, but that will handle at least a 450FSB without being fussy.

I'm going to recommend this board. It's over your budget, but you might be able to find it cheaper somewhere else. Newegg has the open box of that board for $99.99.

hmmm, looks good. open box is fine by me. RAID is a nice touch too....

anyone else wanna toss out a recommendation?

Would nice to hear about 780i boards as well, since my initial plan was to use an SLI board so I could add another 8800GTS when I next need a GPU upgrade....

Will the TRUE or the OCZ Vendetta 2 fit on the DFI?

Yeah, the DS3L is the board I had in my head when I decided I needed a new one... I started this thread to see what else others would suggest. I'll look at a few reviews to compare it to the DFI board... raid is anice plus for the lanparty board.

I could go a little over $100... is the 750i chipset a decent alternative? I was perfectly happy with 650i over 680i for the price, considering they both had the same FSB holes. As long as the 7x0i chipset don't have FSB holes in the 400+ range I'm fine with either.

Excellent question... I'm assuming that any board recommended here will fit my TRUE. I definately don't want any board that'll require a new cooler, since the cooler+fan cost almost as much as a new board will....

I know this blows your budget out of the water, but Maximus Formula FTW. P5N-E SLI to Maximus was the best upgrade I've made since I went from a Celeron 500MHz to dual 1.2GHz PIIIs.

You've seen what my rig can do, both with the P5N-E and Maximus using the same components. Just give it some thought.

if your willing to spend the extra for SLI.. the evga 750i is superb..

Thanks everyone. I ended up going with the DFI board--I just can't blow my budget by $90 right now. I need to buy new clothes and stuff for the summer, too
