Why not just put the ROM in the c:\ directory?

Ezflash will read from the hard drive without issue as well.

Then you don't need a USB key...

just purchased This Rampage Formula board, but i notice something weird:
You guys know the sound when you Overclock the Mobo, You save and the system shut down and make that "shut down" noise !!

and the problem is, my comp Makes that sound occasionally but the system does not shut down and nothing happen.

could that be a sign of a bad MoBo ? or could it be the sound of the Hard Drive ?

Thanks

the shut down noise?

I don't know what sound that is, my board just goes quiet when it shuts off. Of course with two 4870's at 40% fan, I don't think I'd hear anything other than those anyways.

Well Robilar, my hd is NTFS and EZ flash does not recognize it so no go that way, which it is on my hd anyway. And my flash drive, the first one I tried was a 4GB and didn't work so then I used my 1GB one which is the smallest I have.

So is 0406 the best option, I know 0403 said it added support for a wider range of memory compatibility but didn't really find much for 0406 as Asus doesn't have it on there website.

And to slumpack, I don't have a "shutdown" noise, the leds flicker but no noise perse. But as RPIJG stated with my 2 4850 at 60% fan speed I really don't here much but silence when it shutdown lol.

Again thx for all the help guys, hopefully I get this thing figured out and good to go, I was so excited and giddy (my wife made fun of me cause she said I was acting like a school girl with her first crush) yesterday when it finally came in but slowly by surely it seems to be turning into rage , but that's how it goes sometimes switching from hardware to hardware and getting used to all the settings and menu's

Probably why I feel comfortable...Asus to Asus, the BIOS feels very much the same.

It sounded like when you press the power button for 10+ sec (forced shut down) or when you change the overclock settings and do "Exit and Save"

dont know if i'm making any sense.

Thanks

PS: Does anyone have a video of the flash screen ?

what kind of sound does it make though? When I shut down, it just shuts down, I don't get any noises, just the lack of noises, I guess you can kinda hear the fans still free spinning to a stop, but there aren't any "noises" attributable to the board that I can distinguish.

Son of a BI%^H, I was wondering why my temps were a bit higher on this mb with my TT120. Well I figured it out, took a good look and seemed liek it was leaning. Well it was, the base of the TT120 is too big and it hits the caps around the socket for the pwm. How the hell am I gonna get around that, what the hell were they thinking putting them so freakin close to the cpu socket.

I'm done with Asus, I'll never buy Asus again, that is so freakin stupid of them. I am so pissed off right now.

What HSF will fit, I see some with a TRUE but don't they have a pretty big base on them too??

I can arrange my tt120 to blow out the back without hitting the caps barely but then it won't fit in my case, I'm just aggrevated now, never had this problem before. I guess I should have taken a closer look to begin with so really it's my fault but dag nabbit if Asus would have just moved those caps back about anotehr 2cm it would be fine.
