Also if you send the board back to Asus without it, they will not warranty it.

Open box is silly if it doesn't provide all components.
My Rampage Formula didn't come with it (open box), and when I RMA'd my Maximus Formula a few months ago, I didn't have one (also open box) and they accepted the RMA.

well it's official, you can not use a TT120 on the Rampage mb, no way no how, not with stock bracket and all, I'm gonna have to fab a bracket and I might be able to get it to work.

I guess Asus assumes that if you spend $300+ on a mb then you should have wc or a peltier setup or something. I really didn't want to spend another $100 on a hsf just for this mb. Absolutely rediculous, I know for a fact that no one can get a TT120 on the mb no way no how. No matter how you do it the caps are in the way or the bracket for the hsf hits the hs on the fets and nb.

Hopefully I can just ground the bracket down enough to get it to squeeze in there. But anyone looking to buy a Rampage and use a TT120(I know not very good anymore) note that you will have to mod teh stock hsf bracket to get it to fit properly.

hey guys thanks for startin up a thread for this mobo i had no idea we had one. alright so i'm brand new to the whole intel setup (had a 5600x2 before), and even though i got this cpu and mobo back in april i haven't really gotten the chance to oc it all that much. I finally decided to take it for a spin today to see what she is made of and i have gotta say....3.2ghz was pretty much about as simple as punching 400 as the fsb but i am completely lost after that. i have tried to get to 3.4 by raising my nb voltages and cpu voltages to well over what i have read it requires but just still can't seem to pass orthos.

there are a lot of settings that this mobo has that i am completely unfamiliar with, i can honestly say i have no clue what half of the settings mean and im only kinda a newbie at this stuff. if someone could help me out and point out all of the really important settings to watch out for when ocing, and about what they should be at, that would be great. any help with bringing me up to speed what be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Just a suggestion. But when I have had issue with securing a heat sink (both times they came with AMD & Intel locking systems) I was able to use the AMD locking system, and on the 9700 I used both.

Yea, it is teh K8 mounting holes that extended the bracket too far out to fit between the NB hs and the mosfet's hs. But due to the TT120's design the bracket goes through the middle of the hsf but can only go one way due to how the heatpipes are ran through the copper block.

I think if I can cut the bracket edges off it will fit, it's only lacking about very small amount of room and it seems liek it should be able to slide right in place, tight fit but it should work.

Thanks for teh tip though.

And apologies for my rant, just got really mad and aggrevated and everything else you can think of when I realized how bad the contact and situation was. But as always, take a break clear the head and walk back over and just think for a second and a resolution can be made.

oh and if it matters these are my settings in the bios. i know that a lot of these aren't that important and/or obvious of their meaning but im just going to list them anyways for reference

so here they are:

System Performance Settings
Ai Overclock Tuner - Auto
CPU Ratio Setting - Auto
FSB Strap to Northbridge - Auto
FSB Frequency - 400
DRAM Frequency - DDR2-800
DRAM Command Rate - Auto
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A - Auto
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel B - Auto
DRAM Timing Control - Manual
CAS Latencies - 4-4-4-12
Ai Clock Twister - Auto
Ai Transaction Booster - Auto

CPU Configuration

CPU Ratio Setting - Auto
C1E Support - Disabled
CPU TM Function - Enabled
Vanderpool Tehcnology - Enabled
Execute Disabled Bit - Enabled
Max CPUID Value Limit - Disabled
Intel Speed Step Tech - Disabled

Northbridge Configuration
Memory Remap Feature - Enabled
Initiate Graphic Adapter - PEG/PCI
PEG port Control - Auto
PEG Port Force x1 - Disabled

Voltages and Temperatures
(just fyi ambient temp of my room is 80+ degrees F and as far as the voltages go, my input voltages that i put in never end up actually being quite the voltage it displays; don't know if thats normal)

input voltage/real voltage-idle temp
CPU Voltage - 1.22500V/1.192V - 35 degrees C
CPU PLL Voltage - Auto/1.584V
Northbridge Voltage - 1.41V/1.424V - 42 degrees C
DRAM Voltage - 2.20V/2.240V
FSB Termination Voltage - 1.30V/1.216V
South Bridge Voltage - Auto/1.072V - 39 degrees C
SB 1.5V Vltage - Auto/1.520V
Loadline Calibration - Auto
GPU GTL Voltage Reference - Auto/1.120V
DRAM Controller Voltage Ref - Auto

If there are any changes to any of these settings that I should make, I would love to hear your suggestion. So basically the only settings I tweaked were the FSB, RAM Speed, CPU voltage, RAM Voltage, and Northbridge Voltage, for the most part the rest just baffles me.......

Going to give Intel a try and have been looking at this MB. I have a M3A32-MVP with a Phenom on it now.

Would it be a good MB to run a E7200 on?

Everything else in my sig rig would be used but -1 3870...since it only has 2 PCI-e slots.

Thanks

ASUS specifies that you send the board only with no accessories. Otherwise, you wont get it back.
