that was my thought also, I don't think I will need hardly any voltage to get a pretty high stable FSB. I've got mine at the minimum value allowed on 400FSB at the moment.

After you suggested it to me earlier in this thread, I thought "reduce the nb voltage? there goes stability (at least it does with the nvidia based boards that I have extensive experience with). This board doesn't seem to factor nb voltage at all (at least 400 fsb). I'm going to be doing some runs next at 10x400 and 9x455 (my evga 790i ultra board would not do 10x400, only 9x455, the asus P5E would do 10x400 but not 9x455, go figure).

Ok, so I need to know a couple settings that imparticularly have an effect on performance. I am very disappointed kinda right now. As far as benching and running CrossFire with gaming and all this mb is doing great, still can't get over 4.0GHz with E8400but it really is mighty nice. But I Fold and tend to fold 24/7 and I have lost a complete 1min. 45sec. per a % for a WU. Hope some know what I mean.

I am running faster ram now(am at 1000MHz) and runnnig faster cpu speed(3.9GHZ vs. 4.0GHz). So I should at least be around the 8min. mark. I was at 7min. 50sec. per a % on a WU when running on my DFI P35.

I know it is kinda vague what I mean but I just need a couple pointers for what items may be changed to enhance performance beyond the basic(voltage for nb,sb,pll, etc.).

There has to be just one thing holding me back. I have already pulled the other 1GB kit of mem so only running 2x1GB dual channel. Am running 400MHz fsb-NB strap. Switching to 333MHz strap helped none. Even bumped it up to 500MHz x 8 for my 4GHz and no change, just not sure what is holding me back. Any ideas will be much appreciated.

The common performance setting impacts memory bandwidth in a big way, try to find the lowest number you can run stable.

I've gotten it to 5 but it seems that if I put it and lower it won't det dram and if I bump it up it won't det dram so I guess 5 is the only one that will work for me on this mb. Are the settings below the performance level hinder hitting a lower one or not. I just wasn't sure what channels I should enable or shouldn't, I notice none were enabled as of default.

My experience with the Rampage was that I could run pretty high FSB (450+ with a dual) without rise the NBvolt, just as you guys have figure out.

The only time I had to rise NBvolt was when I was trying to reach lowest possible tRD (PL).

I ran water on my NB in the same loop as CPU and 8800GTX and I was never above 30C even with 1.60+.

The best I could reach with my Kingston HyperX PC-8500 (4x1Gb) was 1150MHz 5-5-5-15 but I had to stress both ramvolt and NBvolt to much, so I settle for 1125 4-5-5-15 tRD6 (Clock Twister Moderate) with ramvolt 2,12 and NBvolt 1,31 (see pics).

And with my Kingston HyperX PC-9600 was 1200 5-5-5-15 tRD6 CT Strong with ramvolt 2,275 and NDvolt 1,49. (see pics).

rx7racer

What FSB, multi, FSB strap (ratio), ramspeed and timing are you at with tRD5?

Just curious.

Yes, I probably could lower the NB voltage, I've just been too lazy to mess with it since I got this stable @ 3.6. You're right though, it does need lowering. Will tinker with it..

Actually... 1.52v is the minimum NB voltage I can get my computer stable with. In the 1.46-1.48 range my computer spontaneously reboots after 3-4 minutes of being in the OS. Even at 1.50 I can't get by in Prime95 for more than a few minutes. Looks like I'm stuck up at this voltage as long as I'm at 450 FSB..

Yes, I believe you.

Because you stress that NB with FSB 450 on that quad and with 4x2Gb ram@tRD7, I guess timing are something like 4-4-4-12, how about Clock Twister?

Actually, I had to bump my tRD up to 8, my timings are 5-5-5-15. I've never really messed with CAS and stuff before so I don't know how to properly lower those. Getting my CAS down to 4 would allow for a tRD of 7. Not sure what the clock twister is, never messed with that either..
