What is the best air CPU cooler that will fit this board that is $50 or under? Would my XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle fit? I know I had an issue with it fitting on my DFI so I had to mount it sidewase

Ok, I'm moving back to DDR2 with a Rampage Formula. i want to see if there really is a difference between X38 and X48 boards (and not just with a bios flash).

So count me in as a active participant (more so then before) of RPIJG's club!

I was wondering if the Tuniq Tower would fit without a problem? Would I be able to use an Accelero S1 cooler on my HD4850 since the sound card has to be plugged in a pci express slot?

No the Tuniq does not fit perfect from the get go. You have to cut the hsf bracket where the K8 holes are on the end(not the corners, those are 775 sckt mounting holes) of teh flat edge where it bulges out. Cut those off and it will mount fine where it is exhausting out the back of the case. You can not have the TT120 exhausting out to the top of teh case. The hs base plate is too long and hits the caps for the pwm so it will not make contact with cpu.

Hmm well that kinda ruins my plans. I have the Cooler Master 690 case and was planning on running the Tuniq Tower cooler. I don't think the TRUE 120 cooler will fit since its taller than the Tuniq and read there was barely clearance. So I guess now I need to decide if the Rampage is really the X48 to get and then decide what cooler will work best in my case. I really want the best possible overclocking capabilities and PCI Express 2.0 support.

If you send me your Tuniq bracket, I can mod it for you. it is really easy to do, especially with a dremel. PM me if you want it shaved down. I'll even pay to ship it back. I would just hate to see you pass on this board.

yeah, mounting brackets that are "multi-socket" will have issues. The TRUE fits fine because it only has the 775 mounting as one piece, and then a second piece if you wanted to mount with an AMD socket.

I don't think the accelero would have a problem though. The sound card uses a PCIe x1 slot that is right above the top PCIe 2.0 x16 slot, I don't think it will interfere.
