I almost went with it but the Asus P5E was $100 cheaper and pretty much identical in performance (even though its X38).

The Rampage has more bells and whistles.

I hear ya. I pulled the trigger because I wanted x48, I wanted some bells and whistles, and the BIOS gives me a raging...

I guess I just wanted all those fun things wrapped in one. That x38 and x48 aren't all that different didn't play much of a factor in my decision making process.

You can also flash the P5E with the rampage bios. I was considering giving it a go.

cool, I guess we'll have to wait and see what kind of results I can get. In the end, I can at least say that I didn't try and cheap out. I love the rear CMOS reset button, that's the cat's meow!

Default Rampage Formula

I have had to use the rear CMOS reset several times now.

Sorry for the delayed entry, I just noticed your thread. I have had a few issues that I am still trying to resolve. Would you let me know if you have any issues with Windows booting with other SATA drives installed. The only way I can get into Vista is to unplug my other 4 HDDs.

I am not too fond of the angled header for the SATA connectors. In the Antec 900 case, my video card and HDDs make it a tough squeeze for my adult male hand. Also, I didn't remember to plug in the LCD poster before my HSF. Lots of cuts from that reach.

Anxious to hear other build stories.

Thanks for the heads up on the LCD poster, I can see the blood shed on my TRUE now had you not mentioned that. I will let you know what if any issues I have with HDD's, though I've never had any problems before. Is Vista on the RAID disk? Or is it on it's own? Could it just be all the strain on the SB?

I have had one 200GB drive with Vista on it and 4 320GB drives, 2 in Raid 0, 2 in Raid 1. Right now I can't seem to boot into Vista without unplugging all other drives. If I have any single other SATA drive connected, it doesn't find the C drive (no OS installed message). I have it cracked open on the table at home waiting for me to reconnect the C drive to "SATA 1" to see if it is the order of the connectors.

I switched from an E6750 to QX6850 at the same time as from a Gigabyte P35-DS3R to the Rampage. I finally just got through all the Duo to Quad issues. Still have a ways to go before I am back to smooth sailing I'm afraid...
