yes, the rampage formula will recognize USB devices at the hardware level. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse and because the Mobo recognizes USB I never have to worry about having a wired backup when I have to reinstall windows.

I got a bit dispointed when I flashed the 0410 BIOS in my Rampage, I had 0407.

My max OC with my Cellshock PC8000 and Kingston HyperX PC9600 went down with ~35MHz, not much but it get lower and I don´t like it, it was the same with 2x1 and 4x1.

I tried my 2x2 Corsair Dominator PC8500 and it went down with ~10MHz.

I flashed back to 0408 but it was the same as 0410, so I flashed back to 0407 and I got my max OC back.

It seems like Micro D9GKX don´t like the 0410 or 0408 BIOS.

I could not clock my E8600 any higher with 0408 or 0410 then with 0407, so for now I stay with 0407 until something better comes along.

I always update my bios with a bootable USB drive following this method:

1. Make a USB bootable drive using this creator:
USB Boot drive (HPUSBFW)

2. Then download the boot files and extract them to a folder of your choice

3. Run the HPUSBFW program.

Select the correct USB device from the drop-down menu, set file system to FAT32 and check Create a DOS startup disk.

4. Then browse for the extracted boot files (now in the folder of your choice) and press start to begin formating it.

5. Once the device is done, Copy the AFUDOS and current bios (unzip it) to the USB drive (you will not see the boot files on it).

note* rename the bios to new.rom

6. You will then restart and go into bios to load default bios options. Then set the ram voltage and reboot (plug in the USB drive into the back USB port at this time). Then, while the PC is booting up, press F8 to enter the boot option. Select the USB drive.

7. At the C: type afudos /inew.rom /pbnc /n
note* The actual command line is: afudos /i<your original bios here.rom> /pbnc /n

8. The bios will then begin flashing. Dont do anything until the bios is finished flashing and you are instructed to reboot.

Default New and very confusing issue with my Rampage Formula???

Guys, I posted this question in a new thread in this forum. But after thinking about it, most of the experts are probably following this thread, so I will try again here.

http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...ml#post4600011

Basically, I have been running stable with my Asus Rampage Formula (latest bios, 0410), QX6850, and 2x1G Corsair Dominator PC2-8500 ram. Totally stable at 10x350, ram at 1120MHz. I decided to go to 2x2G of the same brand and speed of ram (Corsair Dominator, PC2-8500, ddr2-1066).

When My ram arrived today, I rebooted, set clocks and voltages to what has been stock for me (3.0GHz/1066MHz), shut down, and swapped out the ram. Since I rebooted, the LCD poster never left the "Init CPU" state. After many reboots with the same results, I reset the BIOS (using the rear panel button). No joy???

So I removed the new ram and put one stick of the old ram back in slot A1 and tried again... NOTHING!!! It is still stuck at the "Init CPU" state of the POST sequence.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, MC_N

that suck man, mine was down and out for a week or so, had to RMA the board, something happened to the bios blablabla. But never seen your problem before. When you did the swap, did you reset your bios to default. I think it desnt matter what you are doing reset the bios if your going to change a hardware you never know what happens also, I know you said you press the cmos reset on the back did you try to remove the cmos battery for like 10 min. Also are you getting a restart boot cycle (on,off,on,off ect.) once you press the on button. Have you tried accessing the crash free bios (user manual), or even reflash the board to 410. Ericeod flashing method worked great for me. Were does domonators recognized as pc2-8500 DDR2 1066???

The problem is, I can't even get to the BIOS. And, no, it doesn't power cycle at all. It is similar to when there is a RAM problem where the LCD poster stops at DETDRAM, only in this case, it never leaves the CPUINIT state. Also, the voltage indicator LEDs are all on (red, yellow, and green in all four locations).

It all happened late last night. I will try removing the battery for a while when I get home from work.

Any other thoughts are appreciated.
