Another Asus Rampage user here.
I was wondering can someone help me overclock my system a little bit.
I'm new in this so I don't want to go overkill in the beginning.
If you can direct me to some Tuts for beginners I would be very grateful.

I want to increase the cooling on my CPU and NB. I'm not sure if I should go liquid cooled or just stick with air cooling. For the CPU I was looking at the Thermal-Right Ultra 120 Extreme with a 120mm noiseblocker fan. I would also lap the heatsink. So $112 from Frozencpu.com to cool the CPU and then a little more to cool the NB. Maybe get a fan controller as well.

Or should I spend a little extra and go liquid cooling?

Eventually, I will put in a faster CPU and graphics cards.

From my experience, the NB stays fairly cool due to all the copper and heat pipes on this board. Unless you are going to be doing some extreme overclocking, I wouldn't worry about liquid cooling the NB. I use the little fan that comes with the board which actually does help a little. If you also have a side case fan blowing air at the board, that would be all you really need.

OK so I got me a Rampage Formula and flashed it to bios 0902. I got a stable OC of 3.2GHz with these settings.

FSB: 356
Mult: 9
DRAM Freq: DDR2-1074
NB Volt: 1.4

CPU Temps
Idle: 16C
Load: 30C

NB Temps
Idle: 40C
Load: 50C

I haven't ran Prime95 on it yet, but played a couple hours of Call of Duty: World at War with these settings and never crashed. Any suggestions on tweaking out my system a little bit more?

Quick Question. For some reason, I can only go up to a CPU Multiplier of [8.0].
Is this due to my processor or do I need to go with a newer bios?

Thanks!

Am looking at upgrading to one of the E8000's CPU's...not sure which one (E8400, E8500, E8600)...and new video card...Everyone seems to be excited about the new ATI 5870's that are hitting the market...

I have pc probe II,and almost every time I start CPU-Z, SB and NB voltages going crazy for a sec or two,and sometimes just randomly goes up and I have to restart my PC.

I have O.C my PC from 2.5 GHz to 3.0 GHz stable, prime95 3 hours, and all my voltages are set to manual,so how can they spike from time to time.

Loadline calibration is disabled.
With the stock values I have the same problem.
Is there any other software that measures voltages on a motherboard ?

Another proud Rampage Formula owner here, however I have been having some issues after installing a Q9650.

Here are screenshots of my bios settings as well as CPUZ, I am hoping that someone can look athe settings and see if there is anything that you would recomend me to change.

The issues that I am having are:

1. It will not post if I adjust the FSB frequency to anything over 470 x 9.

2. If I enable LoadLine Calibration and set them to, CPU x65 and NB x67 I get random BSOD's

3. It will not post if I set the NB Strap to 400, the only strap that seems to work is 333 no matter what I set my RAM speed to.

4. Right now it seems to be running stable at 445 x 9 = 4005 Mhz. Ram speed is at 1069.
