Default Gigabyte EP45-DS3L

Does this board have a temp sensor on the nb? Also, for cooling the nb, I was told water would be excessive. The thermaltake spirit dealy looks nice, and has a good price. What do you think?

There's no sensor for the DS3L's NB. You can just screw in a 40mm fan onto the NB. That works fine. I'm have a fan on my NB and it gets HOT without the fan. The fan does a very good job of cooling it down.

I know there isn't on the p35 version, are you sure they didn't add one in the p45 version? If it doesn't, I may look for other boards. What good boards are in the 100ish dollar range. I'd prefer not to go over 120.

I don't think they would change anything in the DS3L line. You can check HWmonitor. I think one of the system temps was the mobo temp. Not sure if it's the chipset/NB you're looking for though.

I'd really like a board with a nb temp sensor

The DFI boards seem to come with a temp sensor for NB. Those boards come with a program, smartguardian (I think), that displays that.

I think the Maximus boards had a NB temp sensor as well.

http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/7661-post17.html, you can see in two of those screen shots that smartguardian has a "chipset" temp reading. I'm assuming that's the NB since reading the SB or other parts of the mobo would seem unnecessary compared to the NB.

The p35 dk is nice, but the warranty sticker is a negative factor. I wanna be able to wc my chipset, or at least get a nice aftermarker cooler. And the maximus boards are really expensive. +rep to all so far, keep the suggestions coming

The DFI X48 UT has a heat pipe cooling system made by Thermalright. The NB can be clipped on and off so you can WC the NB. Check Clunk's review on the X48 UT and you'll see what I mean. The NB makes contact with a square of metal that's connected to the heat pipe, but you can put something on top of the square (like a water block or a heatsink). The thing comes on and off so it's quite convenient.

Best part about the board is that it shouldn't void your warranty. You'll have to double check this, but it shouldn't be a problem though.

Except it's a 300 dollar board.
