Hey guys, pretty new here. First off heres the CPU-Z screenshot
__________________![]() In bios the vcore is set to 1.4v :| This is what happens when the CPU is put under load (ie when opening closing apps). Normally it idles at 1.360v with 1.4v in bios. I'm also having problems overclocking past 3.7Ghz and i believe this is the reason. My questions are: 1) Should I just up the bios voltage until it gets to the max for the chip in CPU-Z (1.365v) or 2) Should I vmod my mobo (any guides that you guys have found for my motherboard would be great) MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte P35C-DS3R

Check your BIOS for something called Load Line Calibration. That will increase voltage at load, I don't know whether you have it on your motherboard though.

Yeah I have a similar voltage problem. Thing is...I can't really go beyond 1.45V w/o getting into pretty high load temps (like 65C to 75C with 100C TJMax) and my HSF has pretty decent reviews/ratings. So, unless you're really confident in your HSF, I'd opt for the VDroop mod. However, all of that said, you should be very happy that you can get 3.7GHz with a mere 1.4V BIOS. That is sick and, honestly, I don't think you need to (nor can you) go much higher.

Try to disable C1E and intel Speed step. Those are power saving options. See if it helps.

Already done mate, I've done all the usal overclocking things in bios and I know its not a setting that I've missed because I've been through that bios with a fine tooth pick trying everything out. :{

It's on most mid-high range Asus boards. I think it's on the DFI Dk series.
