Morning dudes. As anyone that regularly browses the CPU forum might know, my board is no longer sufficient for its purpose. I bought the thing when I had a 65nm dual core and 2 gigs of ram, and it performed beautifully - 480 FSB was no sweat. I've been upgrading over the past year, however. I now sport 4 gigs of ram, and a new q9450 - and unfortunately, it seems this ol' P35-DS3R no longer has what it takes. I'm sitting at a cruelly low 434 FSB. As a hardcore overclocker, I always strive to push my equipment to the edge, and this is simply an embarassment for me.
So, I'm in the market for a new board. P35 isn't gonna cut it anymore, I guess. I'm looking for something that'll be able to take this setup to a more respectable height - high 400s would be ideal. Now, I don't use SLI or CrossFire; I've got a quaint 8600 GTS, and that's it. I don't need the latest and greatest in graphics horsepower. This rig is meant for video editing and encoding, so it needs all of its concentration on the Northbridge. I've seen a few popular names show up, notable the LanParty variants and the P5Q deluxe, but before I even think about making a choice, I want to get all of your opinions first. Ideally I don't want to spend more than $300. What's a good board, that can take a 45nm quad core and 4GB DDR2 ram, to an FSB of almost 500?

Q9450 Benchmark Chart - No CPU-Z till I get a better motherboard. 3.55 GHz is NOT how I roll.

The new Biostar P45 boards can do it. I have one and it performs great. Actually the board up from mine holds a world record FSB:
Here is my board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138123 And here isthe better board (675 FSB!!!): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138118

It looks good, I've read a few reviews, but I'd like to keep my options open. Any other suggestions?

DFI X48. The X48 chipset has really good support for quads, better than the P35 that you're ruling out. Anandtech regularly includes the board in bench testing comparisons, and they can get it to around 500 with water. I'd suggest looking there.
