That is what I would suggest as well. If you got it from an etailer or retailer, they will not remove the heatpipes to warranty it. They will simply switch it.

Not only that, but they've made the heatpipe removable.
(It's still user error, but if it wasn't mounted quite right and pulled that off, all the more reason, since you're supposed to be able to remove the heatpipe on these) Asus RMA is supposed to be pretty good, but I hear they can take a while. ----------------- On another note, I've finally been able to crack the 1200MHz barrier on my RAM without constant BSODs! I was so frustrated yesterday that I put the board and RAM up for sale Then I went back and kept trying and finally, after tweaking all weekend, I made some progress so I took the gear off the market.CAS 7 with tRD 8 isn't bad. For some reason, it will work at 498, but at 500 FSB it won't even post. Maybe I'll try the new bios. If it won't go any further than this, my next goal is to try lowering tRD to 7 and tightening up the RAM. I'm still waiting for some parts to finish my watercooling, so I'm on stock cooling for now. Here is a link to bios 0801 0701 did nothing for me. These are my current settings which have passed 400% HCI Memtest Quote:

A friend of mine is on the verge of giving up as well. He can't get his memory to clock at it's rated speed (1800MHz). He's using a QX9650 and 8GB of RAM.
*edit* The only source I could find that had any success with this board is jmk on asusindependent forums.

A quad and 8GB of 1800MHz RAM?
I don't think it's going to happen.

Probably better to set FSB to 450 and go with the 1:2 divider. Of course, sure, your RAM may be running at 1800MHz, but you still have the FSB bottleneck, so it may as well be running at 900. Long story short, DDR3 is a waste of money until you go to Core i7. But since you've got it, you may as well use it. I'd take your FSB as high as it will go, and then choose the highest RAM frequency that will POST, then go into the ASUS Transaction Booster and lower the Performance Level by one until the board hangs at DET DRAM. Then raise it back to the last value that booted. That'll probably get you the biggest noticeable performance gains. (Remember to set it back to Auto if you go changing the strap or FSB again.) After that you can tighten the rest of the timings.

Keep trying zlojack, it seems like this board are very picky about ram.
__________________Well, I started up my rig with 2x1 Corsair Dominator PC-14400 (XMP) and it booted up just fine and I was surprised when I noticed that it started with the XMP profile instead of the usually 1333 9-9-9. Everything was on auto. Did install some applications and games and played some with that setting and it was stabil as a rock. Now it was time to find a good 24/7 gamer setup, I will be back for more. This is the Cache & Memory Benckmark on auto (the tRD was 6 according to Memset)

I started with 400 10 4000 1600 666 18 1N tRD5 and it was pretty good but I need 1,70+ for the NB with tRD5 and tRD6 is no good.
__________________![]() Next up was 450 9,5 4275 1800 777 21 1N tRD7 and I think it´s quite awesome as a 24/7 gamer setup. ![]() ![]() Tried 475 9 4275 1900 777 21 1T tRD7, awesome bandwidth and latency but I need 2,15v on those ram to be stable, a little to much for my liking, maybe with a little more tweaking I can get below 2,05v. ![]() With 500 8,5 4250 2000 888 24 1N tRD8 I can get 32M stable but not stable when I loop Crysis with Crysis Benchmark Tool or when I play Crysis, maybe with more tweaking it may can be stable. With my 790i Ultra I could reach 2050 888 24 1T tRC 34 at 2,05v stable with Crysis. I can run 500 8,5 4250 1600 666 18 1T tRD7 To beat 450 9,5 4275 1800 777 21 1T tRD6 I need something like 2050 - 2060MHz at 888 with ratio 1:2 and I talk about more fps, but if I can get 475 1900 to run below 2,05v I think I go with that setup. So this is where I stand right now.
