@Bark
Restarts, hmmm, before or after you have booted into Windows? Fill in the bios template below with your bios settings you have when those problem occur. Code:

Hmmm, aren't those sticks supposed to be running at 9-9-9-27? Weird. But I'm at work, can't check it out at the moment; that's the thing that caught my eye first.
I'm not gonna jump in, since Ghostleader will surely be able to help you (two people giving different suggestions might mess it up for you), but you need to set CPU PLL voltage manually. It was one of those really dangerous things on previous BIOS versions and I doubt they fixed it, since I was closely following the (lack of) release notes. Good luck.

@Sinner
Don´t mind if you want to help, no problems. @Bark If you want to OC you have to put some of those settings to manual values, leave those voltage settings on auto when OC is no good, it overvolt a lot. So try this setup and follow the settings EXACTLY! This will give you a bus speed of 333, CPU speed 3,00GHz and memory at 1333 9-9-9-27 2N. If you don´t follow the settings exactly it´s very hard to help if problems occur and it probably will, so please put in the following into your bios. Post back if problem occur. Code:
Rampage Extreme 1202 Bios Template Extreme Tweaker Ai Overclock Tuner [Manual] OC From Memory Level Up [Auto] FSB Frequency [333] CPU Ratio Setting [9] > CPU configuration CPU Ratio Setting [9] C1E Support [Disabled] CpU TM Function [Disabled] Max CPUID Value Limit [Disabled] Vanderpool Technology [Disabled] Execute Disable Bit [Disabled] Core MultiPprocessing [Disabled] * CPU clock skew [Delay 100ps] * NB clock skew [Normal] FSB Strap to North Bridge [Auto] PCIE Frequency [100] DRAM Frequency [1333] DRAM Command Rate [2N] DRAM Timing Control [Manual] 1st information CAS# Latency [9] RAS# to CAS# Delay [9] RAS# PRE Time [9] RAS# ACT Time [27] RAS# to RAS# Delay [Auto] REF Cycle Time [Auto] WRITE Recovery Time [Auto] READ to PRE Time [Auto] 2nd information READ to WRITE Delay(S/D) [Auto] WRITE to READ Delay(S) [Auto] WRITE to READ Delay(D) [Auto] READ to READ Delay(S) [Auto] READ to READ Delay(D) [Auto] WRITE to WRITE Delay(S) [Auto] WRITE to WRITE Delay(D) [Auto] 3rd information WRITE to PRE Delay [Auto] READ to PRE Delay [Auto] PRE to PRE Delay [Auto] ALL PRE to ACT Delay [Auto] ALL PRE to REF Delay [Auto] DRAM Static Read Control [Auto] DRAM Dynamic Write Control [Auto] > DRAM Skew Control : DRAM CMD Skew on Channel A [Auto] DRAM CLK Skew on DIMM A1 [Auto] DRAM CLK Skew on DIMM A2 [Auto] DRAM CTL Skew on DIMM A1 [Auto] DRAM CLT Skew on DIMM A2 [Auto] DRAM CMD Skew on Channel B [Auto] DRAM CLK Skew on DIMM B1 [Auto] DRAM CLK Skew on DIMM B2 [Auto] DRAM CTL Skew on DIMM B1 [Auto] DRAM CTL Skew on DIMM B2 [Auto] Ai Clock Twister [Auto] Ai Transaction Booster [Auto] EPU II Phase Control [Auto] *** Please key in numbers or select voltage!*** CPU Voltage [~1,325] Load-Line Calibration [Enabled] CPU PLL Voltage [1,51] FSB Termination Voltage [~1,25] CPU GTLVref(0) [+40] CPU GTLVref(1) [Auto] CPU GTLVref(2) [+40] CPU GTLVref(3) [Auto] NB GTLVref [Auto] North Bridge Voltage [~1,40] DRAM Voltage [1,50] NB DDRVref [Auto] DDR3 Channel A Vref [Auto] DDR3 Channel B Vref [Auto] South Bridge 1.5 Voltage [1,51] South Bridge 1.05 Voltage [1,06] ****************************************** CPU Spread Spectrum [Disabled] PCIE Spread Spectrum [Disabled]

@Bark
Nice work Are those temp at load? If it´s at idle, it´s to high and you have to consider to change TIM and reseat the heatsink, maybe increase the fan speed, add an other fan, check so your case has a good air flow. The CPU voltage that I suggested was little on the high side for 3,0GHz so you can try to lower it until you´re unstable then you have found the lowest level of CPU voltage you need for 3,0GHz. If you are stable with that setup and if you want to go to the next step you can try this: Set "FSB Frequency" to 400, "CPU Ratio Setting" to 8 and "DRAM Frequency" to 1333. It will give you bus 400, CPU speed 3,2GHz and memory speed 1333.

Hello. This is my first time posting and I'm very new to OC'ing so I hope you won't flame me for leeching on your knowledege.
__________________That said I bought a new pc setup witch consists of: ASUS Rampage Extreme, X48, Socket-775 Intel Core™ 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz 2 x Crucial DDR3 BallistiX 2000MHz 2GB Kits ASUS GeForce GTX 285 1GB PhysX CUDA I got a 680W Seasonic PSU and a aftermarket cpu cooler, Xigmatek Achilles S1284. I'v read up a bit on the pices and found that all of them should OC pretty nicely exept my GFXcard. On the tests I'v read they OC'd the ram to 7-7-7-28 at DDR3-1900. (more like a underclock, but it's supposed to increase performace) And the cpu to 4.24Mhz Now the CPU OC i'v been told might be a bit to much to run stable, atleast that I should be careful to OC it that much. Anyway, I'm looking for a stable OC that i can use for everyday gaming with my current setup. I'v tried to adjust a few setting om the MB but haven't been able to achive the wanted results yet (it either crashed or returns an error) and this is most likely due to my lack of knowledge conserning all the different parameters i can adjust and OC'ing in general. Could anyone help me out with a OC for this with settings to achive the before mentioned OC's, or close to it. With focus on the system beeing stable? I'v read trough some of the postst here and have compiled a screenshot with some stats that I think could be useful. If there is more info you need just request it and i'll post it. ![]() Thanks alot on advance.

Hello and welcome. Do you know how to overclock? Do you know the basic rules - work on one component at the time (e.g. CPU or RAM), check if it's stable then move to the next step? If so, good. You have a great gaming rig there, so working on it will make it amazing.
Yes, your CPU should easily go above 4.2GHz, since it's E0 stepping. But since you are new to overclocking, maybe you'll be happy with nice and round number of 4GHz, which would be easy to achieve. It's up to you. I'll guide you with some tips and couple of numbers, but all the hard work you'll have to do yourself. ![]() Btw, fill in your system specs here and tell us the exact model of your RAM; even better, give us url on Balistic site for it, so we can check voltages, timings etc. Meet you later. Set a goal and then we'll work on it. P.S. Change your CPU PLL voltage manually to 1.5, so the board does overvoltage it on auto.
