Default Might be getting a new motherboard...

I got my Asus P5N72-T 780i motherboard only a couple months ago, and I quickly realized what a terrible OC'er it was... even though it said that it was rated to handle 1600 FSB, this thing can't even push my Q6600 above 2.7 Ghz...

The reason why I bought this was because I liked my old EVGA 680i, as it OC'ed my CPU all the way to 3.6... but the heat issues were driving me crazy... so I chose this...

Now I'm looking to get a new motherboard... I also just got a 9800 GTX+, but I don't think I'll be SLI'ing anytime soon... probably just stepping up...

So I've heard a lot of good things about motherboards like the X48's and P45's, but I wanted to know if my 9800 GTX+ would perform any worse in a ATI crossfire motheboard? Or should I stick with Nvidia and get a 750i or 780i?

Could anyone recommend me a motherboard under these specs:
- Good OC'er
- Must stay within reasonable temps...
- Support the Q6600
- Support DDR2 at least 1066mhz speeds
- Good board layout with SATA sockets at the edge and facing outwards, not upwards (For cable management)
- Price Range: 0-$200 +- 20

Your help is appreciated!

i've heard good about dfi and gigabyte x38's. and you cant really go wrong with a good asus but its gonna cost you.
a intel chipset can run a nvidia card fine just not in sli.

Before you get a new motherboard, have you checked for FSB Holes? It is a problem with the 600 series and the 750i/780i.. I dont think it is with the 790i though.

yeah, people have been able to run it at 1600 or 1700 FSB... but my Q6600 can't handle that due to its high VID... this particular 780i is just a bad OC'er... there are a ton of people on other forums who agree with me

well the p5q pro has upwards facing sata ports.

for outwards i think you would want to look at DFI.

have you looked at the dfi lp dk p45-t2rs+?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136053

sata ports the way you want, p45 chipset, heatpipes, in your price range

solid choice IMO...

i would also be willing to part with my dfi lp dk x38-t2r for a reasonable price.

Yeah, I was looking at some DFI boards, but unfortunately.. I can't get any because I can't seem to find any local store which stocks DFI mobos... I'll check out your mobo!
