First I want to say that this thread is LONG overdue, but with the semester in full swing I've been unable to update =/
Thanks go out to Whodie here at OCN! So to the point of this post. I recently built a system for a bud of mine, and wound up selling him my e6600 (good reason to upgrade). While installing the new bios needed for my asus p5n32-e to recognize the e8500, power goes out while its writing to blocks, which = very dead bios chip. The chip on those boards is unfortunately soldered on, so with the semester (at the time) fast approaching I was faced with two choices, buy a new mobo to further upgrade my system, or wait on RMA from Asus (it was covered ).I saw that Whodie was selling his slightly used DFI Lanparty LT X48 T2R board for a slim 200 iirc. Not bad, as it was on google shopping for 250-300 easily. I am a daily reader of OCN. I upgraded. Now to the pics! Along with the e8500 I upgraded my fans to Scythe ultra kazes, and had plans to modify one of my little thermaltake e-spirits as you will see in the pictures, but with the botched mobo that idea went out the window. This is everything pulled out of the case, ready to be modded. ![]() The goods! ![]() ![]() My fun little e-spirit II mod ![]() ![]() ![]() You might be asking what I did with the original LED fan that TT provided? ![]() ![]() This is always an entertaining sight...one that reminds me 'where I came from' so to speak... ![]() Lol.... ![]() ![]() ![]() This is, unfortunately, the last time I would ever see my beloved p5n32-e mounted and ready to go...for as the failure placement of the clear fan, electric tape sleeving, and redunkulus asus 'onboard' sound all forshadowed a looming disaster. I have been through so much with that board, it was my first 'custom build' motherboard, after newegg and OCN rescued me from ibuypower.com. I had my first overclocking experience with this mobo. First 'oh **** well that xyz setting seems to be incorrect' battery pull and cmos reset. I'll never forget how nervous I was when I ran dual instances of orthos to test the stability of my first successful mad (30%+) overclock. It was nearly all I thought about at work that day. The service Asus gave me in regard to this board was phenomenal and inspired my decision to buy an Asus notebook for school, which through numerous reformats has yet to disappoint me, minus my crappy windows installations. Needless to say I was pretty attatched to it, and was very emo to see it go. Like sand through the fingers of time they say.. Note: While updating bios, freeze time if you can. Preferably operate the system within a static dome that locks the reality within its confines in a state of suspension. Or just be careful. And have backup power. Power loss during bios update = RMA Here it is all stocked-up and ready to go ![]() And whodie to the rescue! ![]() ![]() Whoa. ![]() Remember those e-spirits? Didn't really need them now...so...wonkiest NB sinks EVAR. Minus that wicked custom chopped up CPU sink on that Blood Iron. That one wins. ![]() Didnt need these either.... ![]() Stole the idea from the happy-true modder guys. ![]() Mounting the NB sink like this was a dumb idea, fixed it later. ![]() Like this ![]() You can barely see inside the case that I flipped the sink around with the fans facing downward. And holy crap are those scythe fans loud. So lets see here....e8500 with 1.16VID, running 3.7-3.8 (got it at 400*9.5 now 24/7 folding) with 1.25 vcore, at 60C. Both instances of orthos made it 13 hours, one failed then. The other made it to I think 18 hours. Thanks for dropping by!

Thanks! I can't seem to figure out which sensor in speedfan is the chipset temp to really find out if they're helping, and for the life of me can't find time to do enough research on this board. It's capability is terrifying.
