I doubt it'll run 555-18 timings at 1200 though.

the modded bios have much better ram timings and ram compatability also has more cpu compatability, i get a tad better oc because my ram runs normally with out the modded bios my ram runs 800mhz@ 5-5-5-18 with it runs 800mhz@ 4-4-4-12

On my P5Q Pro motherboard, with my Intel core 2 Duo E7400, currently the FSB is set to 344, core voltage is 1.320 and a successful stable overclock at 3.62GHz
Picture: ![]() My question is, would I need to worry about changing the NB voltage myself? Are there any thing I should change that would help me overclock my processor higher with stability, and maybe with little less voltage if possible? My BIOS version is 1306. I haven't upgraded it yet, but I am not sure if anything newer would improve or worsen anything, but I do want improvement. I am very happy with my successful overclock, but I am wanting more for 24/7 use. I am just wondering if there are ways to make things better. ![]() All help and information are greatly appreciated. *EDIT* I updated my BIOS to 1501. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=200109 I decided to try it out, in hopes for it to help out.

When I checked intel's website I found the thermal specs for the P45 chipset and they show a max voltage at 1.21. I was able to hit 450FSB at 1.2v on the NB but I wanted to lower my tRD and for that I had to go up to 1.34v. To be safe temperature wise I just put 2 40mm fans on the NB heatsink.
Here's a link to intel's datasheets for the P45: http://www.intel.com/Products/Deskto...ldocuments.htm Also found this on the ICH10 family but not really that helpful (no voltage specs): http://www.intel.com/assets/pdf/specupdate/319974.pdf EDIT: for anyone having memory issues, what do you have AI Clock Twister set to? If set to strong or stronger, you might want to consider setting it to moderate or light. Also, you might want to set all mem timings manually (1st, 2nd and 3rd rows). I haven't tried for over 1100 but at 1081 I have my HZ's manually set to: 5-4-4-12-3-45-6-3 8-3-5-4-6-4-6 14-5-1-5-5 When 2nd and 3rd rows were set to auto I had issues. Once I manually set them I was even able to reduce my voltage to only 2.16 on my ram from upwards around 2.3v.

Alright I can join the club. I just ordered the Asus P5Q and another Radeon 4850 for crossfire. Should be eyecandy and crazy FPS in Crysis and COD4 on my beautiful 24" Dell.

Welcome to OCN and congrats on picking up a P5Q. Rep +
EDIT: one thing to keep in mind tho is that the crossfire will run at 8x/8x and not 16x/16x like on an intel X series board. This will really only be a limiting factor at higher resolutions.

Hi everybody,
I would really appreciate anybody's help to overclock my CPU. What I really need is that someone advise me how to change bios settings (what to enable or disable) step by step to get it overclocked for best performance. Here what i got: E7300 P5QL PRO 2x1Gb Patriot 800 RAM power supply 400w build in cooler OS: XP sp3 here what i see in bios: CPU Ration setting - auto C1E support - enable Max CPUID value limit - disable CPUTM function - enable Execute –disable bit capability - enable Intel speedstep tech - enable Intel C-state tech - enable Ai overclock - auto FSB frequency - auto FSB strap to northbridge - auto DRAM timing control - auto DRAM Static read control- auto DRAM read training - auto Mem. OC changer - auto Ai clock twister - auto CPU voltage- auto FSB termination voltage- auto Memory voltage- auto Northbridge voltage- auto Southbridge voltage- auto Load line calibration - auto Cpu GTL reference - auto Cpu spread spectrum- auto PCIE spread spectrum- auto Cpu clock skew- auto Nb clock skew - auto Cpu margin enhancement - optimized best regards, |
