When I get a Xigmatek DHT-S1283 in place I'm wondering if this thing will do 533x8 with ram at 1066. Any constructive criticism for this goal. Outside of raising vcore, nb, and maybe SB voltage, what are good numbers to start with on the CPU PLL and FSB Termination voltages? Just stay in the Yellow?

I am wondering... I have my Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 overclocked to 3.60GHZ, multiplier set to 8 while the FSB is at 450. Well, the BIOS, CPUz, and AI Suit show 3.60GHz... However, Windows Vista and Steam (under system information) report 4.72GHz out of my processor. Why would it think it is that speed? (Even though I'd love for it to be that speed. lol) It is very very stable, yes. I am just curious on why it's like that.

It's reading your maximum multiplier on that chip. 10.5*450 = 4725. Many programs will display your speed as though you have the default multi (which is your max).

Also, I love this board. It's pretty flexible. I've gotten my CPU stable at over 3.8GHz on 423 FSB with a 9x mutli and I've done 465 FSB on an 8x multi for 3720MHz as well.

Question P5QL Pro problems

Anyone have any experience with the P5QL Pro? I've had one in my system for a few months running my E6750, but have only recently decided to try to overclock it. After doing a ton of reading on this and other forums and a few other hardware sites, I've got a fair handle on the settings and what they do, but I'm having some stability/POST problems beyond a simple overclock.

At the moment, I'm 100% stable at 3.2GHz (8 x 400FSB & 1.336Vcore) with 4GB RAM @ 1066MHz (stock):

FSB: 400
FSB Strap to NB: Auto
PCI-E Freq: 100
DRAM Freq: DDR2-1066
DRAM Timings: 5-5-5-15 (all other DRAM settings auto)
CPU Voltage: Auto (CPU-Z reports 1.336V)
DRAM voltage: 2.2V
Spread Spectrum, C1E, SpeedStep, TM2: All Disabled
All other settings in Ai Tweaker: Auto (Including NB and SB voltage)
CPU Ratio Setting: Auto (8x)

I begin to run into problems if I try to get the FSB up beyond 400. The system will POST and boot into Vista at up to 410, but it'll fail the stress test every time. Anything beyond 410, the board won't even POST. I've tried bumping up the Vcore, as well raising and lowering the NB and SB voltages, but have had no luck. I will admint though, in changing the NB and SB voltages, I did each with the other at Auto, so I haven't exhausted all my options yet. I haven't played with the FSB Termination Voltage or GTL at all yet either.

I don't think the issue is with the DRAM, since I just put in 4GB (2x2GB) HyperX memory that runs fine at 1066, and I was able to overclock it a bit by changing the FSB strap and it ran stable with 400FSB.

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what else I should try, or if this board is even capable of an FSB over 1600MHz. I know the E6750 can be pushed well beyond 3.2GHz, but I've been at this for 3-4 hours a day over the past 2 days now with no luck getting beyond that. I think my girlfriend will shoot me if I spend much more time on it, but she's away all day tomorrow, so I have the whole day to geek out Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Google "Ket & Tiggers P45 thread at TPU". I would post the link but its and outside source and against forum policies. Alot of good info on this chipset in that thread.

Biomech, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, that thread wasn't much help, as the P5QL Pro is a P43 chipset, not a P45 (as much as I wish it was). I'm at the point now that I think I'm just going to have to suck it up and buy a P5Q-Deluxe or Premium

Don't use cash on the Deluxe..

Buy a P5Q-E, same motherboard except some small bios options that you won't miss, and a leather cd holder and mouse pad.........

I love my P5Q-E<3 Clocks like hell, and it has MANY options in bios for overclocking
